I wasn’t expecting much from شقة احلامك علي البحر when I first looked it up – the name literally means “apartment of your dreams by the sea,” which honestly sounds like something out of a cheesy tourism brochure. But after spending a week there, I get why they went with it. This place really does nail that beachside apartment fantasy you have when you’re stuck in traffic back home.

The location on Skandik Street is actually perfect if you know Hurghada at all. You’re right on the water – I mean literally, you can hear the Red Sea lapping at the shore from your room – but you’re not stuck in the crazy tourist circus that is Sheraton Road. The building itself is one of those modern apartment blocks that seem to pop up everywhere along the Egyptian coast, but the B201 unit they’ve got set up as a hotel room is surprisingly well done. The balcony view is honestly ridiculous; you wake up to this endless stretch of turquoise water, and during sunset the whole place turns into this golden postcard situation. I spent way too many evenings just sitting out there with a coffee watching the local fishing boats head out for night fishing.

What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The air conditioning works properly – which, trust me, is not a given in this part of Egypt during summer. The kitchen setup is basic but functional, and there’s a decent-sized fridge that actually keeps things cold. The Wi-Fi is solid enough for video calls, though it does slow down in the evenings when everyone’s streaming. Parking was never an issue, which is huge because finding a spot in central Hurghada can be a nightmare. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet at night – you get the occasional call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but it’s not the kind of place where you’re dealing with party noise until 3 AM.

I mean, it’s a 3-star place so don’t expect luxury resort amenities, but the value here is really about the location and that apartment-style independence. You’re a 10-minute walk from some excellent seafood restaurants that the locals actually eat at (try the grilled hammour at the place with the blue awning – no English sign but you can’t miss it), and the dive shops along this stretch of coast are way less touristy than the ones near the big hotels. The host was pretty responsive when I had questions, though communication was mostly through WhatsApp and basic English. Check-in was smooth enough – they met me at the building and walked me through everything, including how to work the somewhat temperamental shower (hot water comes fast in the morning, takes a few minutes in the evening).

Honestly, if you’re looking for that authentic “living by the Red Sea” experience without paying resort prices, this spot delivers. It’s not fancy, but it’s real – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
