You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually makes sense – which is rare for hotels, honestly. When you wake up in apartment 11D202 at Azzurra and pull back those curtains, you really do feel like you’re living in some kind of dream with that Red Sea stretching out endlessly in front of you. I mean, Sahl Hashish isn’t exactly the bustling heart of Hurghada, but that’s sort of the point.

The location on Sahl Hashish Road is interesting – you’re far enough from the chaos of downtown Hurghada to actually hear the waves at night, but close enough that grabbing a taxi to the old souks or Mamsha Boulevard doesn’t break the bank. Lot 26 puts you in this quieter residential area where you’ll see more locals going about their daily business, which I actually loved. There’s something authentic about watching Egyptian families having their evening walks while you’re sipping coffee on your balcony. The building itself has that newer construction feel – you won’t find any charming Ottoman architecture here, but everything works properly, and honestly, after some of the “character-filled” places I’ve stayed in Egypt, functioning air conditioning and reliable hot water feel pretty luxurious.

What really surprised me was how this 3-star setup manages to feel more relaxing than some of the massive resort complexes down the coast. Maybe it’s because you’re not fighting crowds for pool chairs or dealing with entertainment programs blasting at all hours – here, your biggest decision is whether to spend the morning on your sea-view balcony or head down to one of the nearby beaches. The apartment setup means you’ve got actual space to spread out, a kitchen if you want to grab some fresh fish from the local market (there’s a good one about ten minutes away), and that rare luxury in hotel stays: silence when you want it. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that resort rigmarole with wristbands and dining reservations and activity sign-ups. Just keys, directions to your room, and you’re done. Parking isn’t an issue if you’ve rented a car, which I’d recommend since having wheels opens up the whole southern Red Sea coast for day trips. The perfect 10 rating might seem generous for a 3-star place, but when you factor in what you’re actually getting – that view, the peace and quiet, the authentic neighborhood feel, and a price point that doesn’t require selling a kidney – it starts to make sense. This isn’t the place for families wanting kids’ clubs or party-goers seeking nightlife, but if you’re looking to actually unwind and wake up to one of the most beautiful seascapes in the world, Azzurra delivers exactly what it promises.
