You know what struck me first about Al-Dora Resort? It’s honestly one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – and I mean that in the best way possible. Located right in El Helal, you’re actually in a pretty solid spot that most tourists overlook because they’re all rushing to the flashier resorts closer to the marina. The thing is, this gives you a more authentic slice of Hurghada without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. I was surprised by how quiet the evenings were here, especially considering you’re still close enough to hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosques, which actually became quite soothing after the first night.

The resort itself has that comfortable, lived-in feeling that you get with well-maintained three-star properties – the kind where the staff remembers your name by day two and the pool isn’t overrun with Instagram photographers every morning. Speaking of the pool, it’s actually the perfect temperature most of the year, though I’d avoid the peak afternoon sun if you burn easily (learned that one the hard way). The rooms are clean and functional, nothing fancy, but honestly the air conditioning works great and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. What I really appreciated was the genuine effort from the housekeeping staff – they’d leave these little towel arrangements that made me smile, not because they were elaborate, but because you could tell someone actually cared.

Here’s what really sets this place apart though – the proximity to some of Hurghada’s better local spots that aren’t completely touristy yet. There’s this little seafood place about a ten-minute walk away where locals actually eat (you’ll know it because there’s never any English signage), and the beach access is much less crowded than what you’ll find at the big chain hotels. The resort’s own restaurant serves decent Egyptian breakfast – the ful medames is actually pretty authentic, though I’d venture out for dinner most nights. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or pushy timeshare presentations, just straightforward hospitality. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for a base to explore Hurghada without paying resort prices for amenities you won’t use, and you don’t need marble bathrooms or five restaurants to choose from, Al-Dora honestly hits that sweet spot between comfort and value.

  I booked it for one night and late check-in. The rooms were new and clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was adequate and good. It has a big pool and access to the beach, I did not use it. The staff is very friendly and helpful
  
  What could be improved: The location is a bit far from the center, but you can reach hurghada marina in 15 minutes with uber.

  I spent 2 weeks here "All Inclusive" and everything was great. The room was very good, very clean and tidy, with a big comfy king-size bed, Flat screen TV, fridge, coffee,/tea making facilities, good size shower and Aircon. The WiFi in my room was not particularly fast but reasonably reliable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. You can arrange various tours with the guys at reception. There is also a bar near reception where you can buy various non alcoholic drinks, juices etc.
  The main pool is very nice, with some sun beds and a small pool bar. The water is quite cold, but it's nice and invigorating, especially in the morning. In November the pool area is in the shade from around 3.30pm. There are also three other smaller pools.
  Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner are served in the rooftop restaurant. It's quite small but I always got a table and there was always plenty of food. Whilst I was staying there, they were working on another restaurant down stairs so this may change where you eat in the future.
  Now to the food. I thought the Breakfast, lunch and Dinner were all very good. A good choice of things to eat and all of it pretty good quality and taste. All in all, I was very happy with the selection and quality of the food.
  FYI – "All inclusive" in Al Dora doesn't mean all food & all drinks free all the time. It means that you get breakfast, lunch and dinner (with water, coffee or juice) included in the price. You also get snacks around the bar pool area. Any additional drinks (hot/cold) are chargeable.
  The free beach is actually the Davinci Hotel beach which isn't strictly a real beach, it's more like a flat concrete area with sand covering the concrete, but hey, it's perfectly fine for enjoying the sun. There's slso plenty of sunbeds with large umbrellas.
  In November it's nice and peaceful.
  
  What could be improved: The was only one negative thing on my holiday and that was the guests near my room who insisted on slamming their room doors.,and dragging furniture across the floor. Quite annoying, but of course, it's not the hotels fault. 
  The flies. I would recommend buying and using some black fly insect repellent as the fly's can be annoying (sometimes), but it's only when your laying by the pool, If you're walking around it's fine, and it's not a negative point against the hotel, it's just nature.

  There are varieties in the food ( not so much) but there are a couple of varieties and all the food tastes very good
