You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked into this Marina El-Hurghada flat, it didn’t feel like your typical Red Sea tourist trap. I mean, sure, it’s in the New Marina Resort complex on El Sakkala – which honestly gets pretty bustling during peak season – but there’s something refreshingly honest about this two-bedroom setup that just works.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Hurghada at all. Being on the second floor means you’re high enough to catch those gorgeous marina views (especially from the main bedroom), but you won’t be huffing and puffing with heavy luggage like some of the higher units I’ve stayed in around here. The El Sakkala area has really grown on me over the years – it’s got that perfect balance where you’re close enough to walk to the marina’s restaurants and dive shops, but far enough from the main strip that you won’t hear music pumping until 3 AM. I actually slept better here than at some of the flashier five-star places down the coast.
What really sells this flat is the space, honestly. Two proper bedrooms means you’re not cramming everyone into one room like sardines, and the living area has enough room to actually spread out your dive gear (because let’s be real, that’s why most of us end up in Hurghada). The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s got everything you need if you want to grab fresh fish from the local market instead of eating resort food every night. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need – there’s proper storage, decent water pressure, and the AC units work without sounding like jet engines. Small things, but they matter when you’re here for more than a weekend.
I’ll be straight with you though – this isn’t a luxury resort experience. The building’s got that slightly weathered Red Sea coast look that most places here develop after a few seasons, and you might hear your neighbors sometimes. But for a 3-star rating pulling a 9 out of 10 from guests? That tells you everything about value. The diving here is still world-class, the marina has some genuinely good restaurants (try the seafood place on the far end – locals eat there), and you’re paying a fraction of what you’d spend at the big resort chains while getting way more space and freedom. Plus, having your own place means you can come back from morning dives, rinse your gear properly, and actually relax without lobby crowds and resort schedules. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
