Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Andalusia Palace on that second floor apartment setup, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Hurghada. But you know what? Sometimes these smaller spots surprise you in the best way possible. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of town, tucked into one of those residential areas where you actually hear Egyptian families going about their daily lives instead of just tourist chatter echoing off resort walls.

What really got me was how the staff – and I mean the actual people running this place, not some corporate robots – genuinely seemed to care about making sure you understood Hurghada beyond just the Red Sea diving everyone talks about. The guy at reception (I think his name was Ahmed, but honestly half the helpful guys in Egyptian hotels are named Ahmed) actually drew me a little map showing which local buses to take to the old souq downtown, and which seafood spots the locals hit up versus the tourist traps along the corniche. That kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to stretch your travel budget. The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the AC works well (crucial during those brutal summer months), and I actually slept better here than at some of the flashier resort places because it’s set back from the main strip where those late-night party boats dock.

Here’s the thing about staying in a place like this versus the big resort complexes – you end up experiencing Hurghada more like someone who actually lives here. I could walk to this little coffee shop where old men play backgammon in the mornings, and there’s a family-run restaurant two blocks over that serves the most incredible koshari I’ve had outside of Cairo. The location puts you close enough to the diving centers and boat operators that you’re not paying crazy taxi fees every day, but far enough from the main hotel strip that you’re not dealing with constant noise and vendors trying to sell you papyrus scrolls at 11 PM. Plus, parking is actually manageable here – if you’re brave enough to rent a car and navigate Egyptian traffic, which, I mean, is an adventure in itself. The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me because this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, honest place run by people who know their city and want to share it with you properly.

  The owner was amazing with calling and answerinf whenever we needed help or to ask something, the place was so cozy and relaxing definitely worth the stay.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that was horrible from start to end was the manager, he was really rude telling us extra cost when the owner said there was no extra cost. At the last day, the owner let us stay for a few hours till our ride came but the manager rushed us out and kicked us out even though we paid for the day. Just horrible, I wouldn't want see him again if I ever book again for this place.

  Alles super, der Vermieter war immer zu erreichen, und hat sich sofort gekümmert wenn es ein Problem gab. Die Wohnung war schön und sauber.
  
  What could be improved: Es gibt leider viele Straßen Hunde in der Gegend, die man oft über Stunden bellen hört.

  Mir hat die etwas abgelegene Lage gut gefallen. Kein Lärm, kein Smog. In die Stadt kann man Uber nehmen für unter 1 €. Die Hunde habe nachts nicht gebellt. Nur früh etwas. Aber nur eine Weile. Hat ich nicht gestört, da alles etwas weiter weg. Der Eigentümer ist ein sehr ehrlicher und korrekter Mann. Hat schnell geantwortet. Kam auch jeweils für den Schlüssel. Alles relativ neu. Befindet sich links vom City Palace. Steht noch nichts dran. Schwer zu sehen.
