Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Red Sea coast, but Azzurra Sahl Haseesh honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best possible way. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this actually exceeded what I was expecting, which doesn’t happen often these days.

The thing about Sahl Hasheesh (locals drop the second ‘e’ when they say it) is that it’s not right in the chaos of central Hurghada – you’re about 20 minutes south of all that madness, which means you get the best of both worlds. The resort sits in this bay where the water is incredibly clear, like you can see your feet even when you’re chest-deep, and the coral reef is close enough that you don’t need to take a boat trip to see decent marine life. I actually saw a sea turtle just snorkeling right off the beach, which the dive instructor told me happens pretty regularly here. The beach itself has this soft, pale sand that doesn’t burn your feet even in the afternoon heat – trust me, I learned this the hard way at other Red Sea resorts.

What really struck me about Azzurra was how they’ve managed to feel genuinely luxurious without being stuffy or pretentious. The lobby has these soaring ceilings and marble floors that stay cool even in summer, but the staff treats you like family rather than just another guest to process. Check-in was smooth (they had cold towels and fresh mango juice waiting), and honestly, the room was spotless – I’m talking about the kind of clean where you can walk barefoot on marble floors without cringing. The balcony views are something else too, especially if you get one facing the Red Sea. Sunset here is around 5:30 in winter, 6:30 in summer, and watching it over the water with a drink in hand… well, it’s one of those moments that makes you remember why you travel in the first place.

The food situation is better than I expected – and I’m pretty picky about hotel restaurants. Their seafood is obviously fresh (you’re right on the Red Sea, after all), but they also do a solid job with international dishes. The breakfast spread goes until 10:30, which is perfect if you’re not a morning person, and their Arabic coffee is actually good, not that weak stuff you sometimes get at resorts. One small thing – if you’re planning to explore Hurghada town for shopping or nightlife, taxis are easy to arrange but agree on the price beforehand. The resort shuttle runs a few times a day, but it’s on their schedule, not yours.

I keep coming back to how peaceful this place feels. Even when it’s fully booked, there’s enough space that you’re not fighting for poolside chairs or feeling crowded. The infinity pool overlooking the Red Sea is definitely Instagram-worthy, but more importantly, it’s actually enjoyable to swim in. Water temperature stays comfortable year-round, though it’s warmest from May through October. If you’re the type who likes to have everything sorted without thinking about it, but still wants to feel like you’re experiencing something special rather than just another cookie-cutter resort, Azzurra really delivers on that balance.

  Das Apartment war sehr sauber und sehr groß. Es gibt viele unterschiedliche Utensilien zum Kochen und die Küche ist auch sehr groß. Das Apartment hat eine schöne Aussicht und einen wirklich großen Balkon.
  
  What could be improved: Nichts an dem Apartment, das einzige was man wissen sollte, es gibt keine nahe Möglichkeit zu einem vernüftigen Supermarkt, nur einen wirklich sehr kleinen in der Anlage und es ist nicht immer einfach ein Taxi/Uber zu finden (insbesondere nicht günstige)
