You know what surprised me most about Big Familie private Villa? How quiet it actually is, considering you’re right on the airport road. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional plane, but it’s not that constant roar you’d expect – honestly, the call to prayer from the nearby mosque was more noticeable, and in a good way if you’re into that authentic Egyptian experience.

The whole setup feels like someone’s actual family compound that they’ve opened up to travelers, which I guess makes sense given the name. It’s not your typical hotel at all – more like staying at your Egyptian friend’s place, if your friend happened to have a really nice villa with multiple rooms for guests. The owner clearly lives on-site or nearby because there’s this personal touch to everything, from the way the garden’s maintained (there are these massive bougainvillea bushes that smell incredible in the evening) to how they actually remember your name after day one. The rooms themselves are spacious in that old-school way – high ceilings, tile floors that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and furniture that’s seen some years but is still solid. Don’t expect Instagram-perfect minimalism, but everything works and it’s genuinely comfortable.

What really sold me on the place was the location, though most people probably book it thinking it’s just a cheap airport option. Sure, you’re maybe ten minutes from the terminal, which is clutch if you have an early flight – but here’s what the booking sites don’t tell you: you’re also perfectly positioned between the airport and downtown Hurghada. The microbus route runs right past the front gate, so getting to the marina or the old town costs you maybe five Egyptian pounds and takes fifteen minutes. Plus, there’s this little cluster of local restaurants about a five-minute walk down toward Mubarak 6 district that tourists never find – the kind of places where they’re grilling fresh fish outside and the whole neighborhood shows up for dinner. The family running the villa actually pointed me toward the best one (ask about Abu Ahmed’s place – no English menu, but just point at what looks good).

I’ll be honest, this isn’t a 5-star resort experience. The WiFi cuts out sometimes, the shower pressure varies depending on time of day, and you’re definitely not getting room service or a concierge. But for a 3-star place with a 7.8 rating, it overdelivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The AC works reliably, there’s always hot water, and they’ve got this covered parking area that’s worth its weight in gold during Hurghada’s summer months. The whole vibe is just refreshingly real – no pretense, no tourist markup on everything, just good hospitality in a genuinely nice setting. If you’re looking for something between a budget hostel and a resort, where you can actually get a feel for how regular people live in Hurghada, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Host was great. Showed us around the area & took us to the local supermarket on our first day. Quick response to questions. Happy to arrange tours etc.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen facilities could be improved. The villa sleeps up to 10 guests, but plates & cutlery etc. was limited to 6 or less of each.

  The Villa is perfect for family would like to have privacy and quiet place , the staff was nice and helpful, I recommend for family will not expect fancy place

  Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in dieser Unterkunft! Besonders möchten wir Achmet hervorheben – er war jederzeit zur Stelle, hat täglich den Pool gereinigt, den Müll entsorgt und sich sofort um alles gekümmert, falls mal etwas kaputt war.
  
  Die Unterkunft bietet durch die hohen Mauern absolute Privatsphäre, was für uns perfekt war. Der Garten mit dem Pool, der Grill und die vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten laden zum Entspannen und Verweilen ein – ideal für einen erholsamen Urlaub.
  
  Ein paar Kleinigkeiten könnten verbessert werden: Es gab leider nur wenige Handtücher, und Dinge wie Spülmittel oder ein Schwamm zum Abwaschen haben gefehlt. Das ist nichts Dramatisches, aber wäre praktisch gewesen.
  
  Trotzdem würden wir jederzeit wiederkommen – wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt!

  Der Gastgeber war jederzeit erreichbar und hat überall geholfen. Ob es Geldwechsel war, oder Ausflüge buchen. Er ist auch mit uns einkaufen gefahren und hat uns sogar in die Innenstadt gefahren und wieder abgeholt.
  
  What could be improved: Der Pool ist in den Wintermonaten sehr kühl. In den Sommermonaten bestimmt sehr angenehm, im Februar eher nicht so prickelnd (Meer war um einiges wärmer). An manchem Geschirr war noch Essensreste vom Vorgänger.
