You know what caught me off guard about BS Lodging 8? The name absolutely doesn’t do it justice. I mean, you’d walk right past it thinking it’s some budget crash pad, but honestly – this little place is a gem tucked away on Old Sheraton Street. The location is actually brilliant if you know Hurghada at all. You’re literally steps from Dream Beach (hence the name), but you’re on this quiet side street behind the big Elysee hotel, so you get none of the tourist chaos but all the beach access.

The owner clearly gets what travelers actually want. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no pushy upsells or lengthy speeches about facilities you’ll never use. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed in the Red Sea area. What really impressed me was the attention to small details – decent water pressure, air conditioning that actually cools the room, and blackout curtains that let you sleep past sunrise if you’ve been diving all day. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters when you’re trying to upload all those underwater photos.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people miss – being behind the Elysee means you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to Dream Beach in under two minutes, but when you come back tired and sun-soaked, you’re not fighting through crowds of day-trippers to get to your room. The street gets pretty quiet after sunset, so you’ll actually sleep well. I noticed a lot of dive groups stay here because it’s close to several dive centers, and you can tell the staff is used to dealing with early morning departures and wet gear. The area has that authentic Hurghada feel too – there’s a little grocery shop around the corner where locals actually shop, and the coffee vendor on the main street makes proper Egyptian coffee if you’re into that. Parking isn’t really an issue since most people are walking or using taxis anyway, but I saw spaces available when I needed them. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, but sometimes you just want a place that’s clean, comfortable, and gets you where you need to be without breaking the bank or dealing with resort nonsense.
