You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Captain’s Inn when I first rolled up to Abu Tig Marina – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and honestly, some of those can be pretty hit or miss in El Gouna. But this little spot actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk in, there’s this laid-back nautical vibe that doesn’t feel forced or cheesy like some marina hotels do. The lobby’s got these weathered wood accents and rope details that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character, not just another cookie-cutter resort property.

What really got me was the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way everyone throws around. I’m talking about being right there on the marina where you can actually hear the rigging clinking softly in the evening breeze, watch people prepping their boats in the morning, and walk to some seriously good restaurants without dealing with taxi drivers or hotel shuttles. Abu Tig has this whole promenade thing going on, and you’re literally steps away from places like Mokai or Bu Tinah if you want decent food that isn’t hotel buffet fare. The staff seemed to get that too – they’d give you actual recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the tourist traps in downtown El Gouna.

The rooms themselves are pretty solid for what you’re paying. Nothing fancy, but they’re clean and the AC works (which, let’s be honest, is non-negotiable in Hurghada). I stayed in one of the marina-view rooms and could see the boats bobbing around, which was way more relaxing than I expected. The whole place has this quiet, almost residential feel to it – you’re not dealing with massive tour groups or kids running around the hallways at all hours like you get at some of the bigger resorts. Actually, that’s probably why it’s got such a high rating despite being a 3-star property. Sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well without all the bells and whistles you never use anyway. The pool area’s small but never felt crowded, and there’s something to be said for being able to walk out and grab a coffee or browse the little shops along the marina whenever you want. If you’re the type who likes to feel like you’re staying somewhere with some local flavor rather than a tourist bubble, Captain’s Inn definitely delivers on that front.

  The property has an amazing location as it is situated in the middle of Abu Tig Marina which allows a very easy access to most restaurants and outings in the Marina.

  Friendly Staff: The entire team was extremely friendly and polite, making my stay very enjoyable.Room: My room was excellently located with breathtaking views of the marina and the sea. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery.Security: The security measures were very discreet yet attentive.
