You know what caught me off guard about Casa De Madera? I was expecting just another vacation rental when I pulled up to Building 3A in the Soma Breeze compound, but honestly – this place has some serious character. The wooden accents (casa de madera means “house of wood” if your Spanish is rusty like mine) give it this warm, almost Mediterranean vibe that feels totally different from the typical concrete resort blocks you see everywhere in Hurghada. The 1-bedroom setup is deceptively spacious, and I mean that view… well, you’ve got the Red Sea stretching out on one side and the Cascades Golf Course on the other. I spent way too many mornings on that balcony with coffee, watching early golfers tee off while the sea was still that perfect turquoise color before the afternoon wind kicks in.

The location in Soma Bay is actually pretty brilliant – you’re about 45 minutes south of Hurghada’s main chaos, which means you get the peace and quiet but can still hit El Gouna or downtown Hurghada when you want some action. The Soma Breeze compound itself is well-maintained (parking’s easy, by the way), and there’s something refreshing about staying in a place that feels more like a neighborhood than a resort. The Cascades Golf Course is literally right there if you’re into that, and the Breakers diving center is maybe a 10-minute walk – I actually bumped into some of the dive instructors at the local café, super friendly guys who know all the best spots along the reef. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; you can actually hear the waves, not just air conditioning units and pool parties.

The apartment itself punches above its weight for a 4-star rating – I mean, that 9.9 rating makes sense when you’re there. The kitchen’s properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation), which is clutch if you want to grab fresh fish from the local market in Safaga. The bedroom’s got blackout curtains that actually work, and the AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which… trust me, matters more than you think when it’s 40°C outside. The whole place feels like someone actually lives there sometimes, not just a sterile rental unit. My only tiny gripe? The WiFi can be spotty during peak evening hours, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between having your own space and being close to some of Egypt’s best diving and kitesurfing, this little wooden gem in Soma Bay delivers big time.

  A wonderful apartment in a great location. The owner is very hospitable and tried to make everything comfortable for me. Always in touch, any of my questions were resolved in five minutes. You can always find flaws, but this apartment is not just convenient, but also beautiful, comfortable and quiet. In the evening, turning off the air conditioner and opening the balcony, you can sleep to the sound of the sea waves. And no insects will interfere, because there is a mosquito net. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, including in hotels, a lot of entertainment in the neighboring hotel, great snorkeling and diving. Taxi around the island for 1 euro, what else could you want?

  Superbe logement bien décoré avec une très bonne literie. Très bien situé avec piscine et plage.
