Look, I’ll be straight with you about Casablanca Beach in Hurghada – it’s one of those places that grows on you, even if your first impression might be “well, this is… cozy.” The lobby’s got that slightly dated Egyptian resort vibe going on, but honestly? That’s part of its charm. You’re not paying five-star prices here, and you shouldn’t expect marble everything, but what you get is a genuinely friendly spot where the staff actually remembers your name by day two.
The location is actually pretty sweet – you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos of Hurghada’s hotel strip, but close enough that you can walk to decent restaurants without needing a taxi every time you want to grab dinner. I mean, you’ll still want to venture into the main Sekalla area for the better seafood joints, but there’s something nice about being able to retreat to a quieter corner when the crowds get overwhelming. The beach access is the real winner here though. Sure, it’s not the widest stretch of sand you’ll ever see, and the sun loungers have definitely seen better days, but the water? Crystal clear, and you’ve got some surprisingly good snorkeling right off the shore. I spotted more colorful fish in twenty minutes than I did at some of the “premium” beach clubs down the coast.
What really surprised me was how the place comes alive in the evenings – there’s this little terrace area where people just naturally gather, and you end up chatting with families from Cairo, German couples on their third visit to Hurghada, that sort of thing. The restaurant food is hit or miss (stick to the grilled fish, skip the pasta), but the shisha setup after dinner is solid. Just don’t expect lightning-fast WiFi if you’re trying to upload vacation photos – you’ll want to use the lobby connection for anything important. The rooms themselves are clean and bigger than you’d expect for a three-star, though the air conditioning has a personality of its own and sounds like a small aircraft taking off. Pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper, but honestly, after a day in the Red Sea sun, most people sleep through anything. It’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s hot water, decent water pressure, and balconies that actually get a nice breeze in the evenings. For the price point and the genuine hospitality, Casablanca Beach delivers exactly what it promises – nothing fancy, but a solid base for exploring Hurghada’s underwater world without breaking the bank.
