Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of resorts along the Red Sea coast, but Cleopatra Luxury in Makadi Bay actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. First thing you notice pulling up – and yeah, there’s plenty of parking which honestly matters more than you’d think – is how they’ve managed to keep that intimate feel despite being a proper luxury property. The whole adults-only thing isn’t just a marketing gimmick here; you can actually hear yourself think by the pool, which is refreshing when you’re used to the chaos at family resorts down the coast.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how they handle the beach situation. Makadi Bay itself is this gorgeous protected cove about 30 minutes south of Hurghada’s main strip, so you get those crystal-clear waters without the jet ski madness. The resort’s stretch of sand is genuinely pristine – I mean, they rake it every morning before sunrise, and the coral reef starts just a few meters out, perfect for snorkeling without needing a boat trip. The staff actually knows the marine life too, not just pointing vaguely at fish but telling you about the parrotfish and groupers you’re likely to spot near the resort’s little jetty.

Here’s what I really appreciate: they’ve nailed the balance between luxury and not being completely over the top. The rooms have that Egyptian elegance thing going on without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum, and honestly, the air conditioning works perfectly – crucial detail when you’re dealing with those 40-degree afternoons in summer. The restaurants rotate their menus more than most all-inclusives (the seafood night on Thursdays is genuinely excellent), and the bartenders actually know how to make a proper cocktail, not just dump vodka into fruit juice. Check-in was smooth, maybe ten minutes total, and they really do remember your name after the first day. Small thing, but it makes a difference when you’re trying to relax. The spa’s worth mentioning too – they use local sea salt and oils, nothing fancy, but after a day diving or just lazing around, those treatments hit differently. You know what clinched it for me? Even during peak season in March, it never felt crowded or rushed. That 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there.

  We stayed at the Adults Only section. The resort is spacious with all facilities: 3 restaurants, bars, gym, shisha lounge, disco and others. The staff especially the animation team are super friendly and fun. The rooms are spacious with a beautiful view. There is lots of greenery around. Most importantly, the food was pretty good and diverse.
  
  What could be improved: The resort is not in Hurghuda – it is in Makadi Bay (10km far from center). There is nothing around the resort, but we did not mind because we spent all our time in the resort. There was no need to leave the resort in the 1st place. The water at the beach was very shallow – don't expect to swim by the shore. There is coral reef but it is not beautiful – dry and grey. The price of the resort is very high compared to others in the area. Most of the people attending are 50+ years old, so don't expect to meet young people 🙂

  Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Essen in der Waterfront und dem Mainrestaurant waren lecker. Das Bogenschiessen haben wir ausgiebig genutzt. Der Trainer war sehr gut. Die Schnorcheltour war wunderbar. Das Personal an der Poolbar im Beachclub war sehr zuvorkommend.

  Alles gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Super Personal, netter Manager, klasse Essen mit super Hygiene, Qualität und Geschmeckt, Betten bequem.

  La struttura è molto nuova e ben tenuta. La stanza molto grande e bella, tutto molto curato. Tutti i giorni stanza rifatta e acqua a disposizione. La zona adults only è molto bella, calma e silenziosa, si può usufruire di ristorante più piccolo e riservato dove ci sono camerieri molto gentili e poco invadenti. C'è anche piscina riscaldata riservata. Quando si vuole però si può usufruire di tutti i servizi della struttura principale. Cibo ottimo per essere un resort. Animazione non invadente, presenza di biliardo, ping pong, freccette nel bar… e di campi da beach tennis, beachvolley ecc… La spiaggia è carina con accesso in acqua bassa e poi molo per andare più a largo. C'è la possibilità di andare anche sul molo dell'hotel accanto. Possibilità di fare varie escursioni.
  
  What could be improved: La struttura ha un molo da cui fare il bagno dove c'è la barriera corallina. Ci sono tanti pesciolini ma la barriera corallina sta morendo infatti i colori sono spenti ed è un peccato. Dall'hotel accanto c'è la barriera un po' più viva ma comunque poco colorata. A marzo l'acqua è parecchio fredda.
  L'animazione è migliorabile.

  Camera grande, pulita, vista mare.
  Personale sempre gentile. Personale del ristorante adults only SUPER. I responsabili mi hanno sempre seguita dato che ho un'allergia al cumino e a volte, preparato anche piatti a parte apposta, deliziosi.
  Tantissima scelta (ricordandosi che non siamo in Italia).
  Sempre trovato posto in spiaggia senza problemi. Piscina grande anche se non l'abbiamo mai usata.
  Mare trasparente e barriera corallina SUPERLATIVA. Abbiamo anche fatto il corso di immersione nel centro a fianco della spiaggia dell'hotel e ci siamo trovati molto bene.
  Sicuramente da consigliare, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Praticamente nessun italiano, quasi tutti tedeschi quindi tutti molto educati.
