Hotel Description
You know what strikes you first about Cleopatra Luxury Resort? It’s not just the sprawling complex or the pristine beachfront – it’s how they’ve actually managed to create something that feels authentically Egyptian without going overboard with the theme park vibe. I mean, yes, there are pharaoh statues and hieroglyphic touches everywhere, but it’s done with enough restraint that you’re not rolling your eyes every five minutes.
The location in Makadi Bay is honestly brilliant – you’re about 25 minutes south of Hurghada’s chaos, which means you get the convenience of being close to the airport and excursion pickups without dealing with the constant hustle of the main tourist strip. The bay itself is this gorgeous horseshoe of calm water that’s perfect for snorkeling (the house reef is actually decent, though not spectacular), and the resort sits right on one of the better stretches of beach. What I really appreciated was how the pools are positioned – there’s this massive main pool that gets lively during the day with the animation team doing their thing, but then you’ve got these quieter adults-only sections tucked away where you can actually hear yourself think. The water park area is legit impressive too, especially if you’re traveling with kids – those slides aren’t just for show.
Service-wise, they’ve got that Egyptian hospitality thing down to an art form. The staff genuinely seems to remember your name after day two, and honestly, the housekeeping team works magic (seriously, those towel animals got increasingly elaborate as the week went on). The food situation is where things get interesting – sure, it’s your typical resort buffet setup, but they actually rotate through some proper regional dishes alongside the international standards. The seafood nights are worth planning around, and that little beachside grill they fire up for lunch? Simple but surprisingly good. I will say the main restaurant can get absolutely packed during peak dinner hours, so either go early or embrace the chaos. The grounds themselves are massive – like, genuinely massive – so bring comfortable walking shoes or be prepared to hop on one of those little shuttle carts. It took me three days to figure out all the shortcuts between the different pool areas and restaurants. One thing that surprised me was how well they handle the evening entertainment – it’s not just the usual hotel show routine, but actual performers and themed nights that locals sometimes show up for. The 8.7 rating feels about right – it’s definitely delivering on the luxury resort experience without any major disappointments, though you’re paying for that level of polish. If you’re looking for that proper Red Sea resort experience with enough space to spread out and genuine Egyptian touches, this place hits the mark.

Beach front rooms, put our full family rooms next to each other as requested
It was clean and spacious and a good place to just switch off from the world
What could be improved: Beach was a bit rockier than expected, food was quite western, I was hoping for a little more authentic foodA from Egypt – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
We were 2 families stayed in 3 rooms for 3 nights during the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid El Fitr. Staff are friendly and cooperative especially Mr. Mohamed from Reception and all Chefs in the restaurant. The kids enjoyed the the heated pool and playing football and volley ball at the volley ball pitch by the beach. The cariokee night was fun and entertaining. We took a long walk along the beach to the adjacent hotels in both direction at the sunset and it was really relaxing. I would like to thank the general chef and restaurant manager/in-charge for their care to prepare iftar meal at the restaurant earlier than the usual dinner time, and sohor meal delivered to our rooms daily. They really made our stay more comfortable and easy. Definitely I would like to stay here again
What could be improved: Although the beach is nice and sandy, the sea is not accessible as it is full of rocks and corals. The family pool should be heated too so the kids can enjoy it when weather temperature is low to avoid annoying other guests at the main heated pool who may like to relax without noiseJanice from United States – 5 March 2025 (9/10)
The beach is beautiful good to swim with the turtle and corals reef alot fish. The food are delicious buffet style. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bed are comfortable big room, beautiful view of the sea.

Great resort, with many athletic possibilities. We loved that we could play padel. Everything else was good too.
What could be improved: Wifi didn't work well on our room.Marc from United Kingdom – 11 December 2024 (8/10)
It's a beautiful resort set in meticulously kept grounds, it's mostly in great condition.
The room was a good size and comfortable, great en suite and shower with plenty of shampoo and body wash.
Friendly staff throughout the resort.
Standard breakfast choices which were enough for us.
Lunch and dinner choices were excellent and my picky wife was extremely impressed.
We did archery for the 1st time here and are hooked, with the coach giving a great 1st lesson and slight tweaks to improve your form.
Overall a great introduction to Egypt.
What could be improved: We found certain staff members to be quite pushy to the point of making situations uncomfortable.
Trying to relax by the pool or on the beach and you've got someone from the spa or excursion staff giving you the hard sell.
Needless to say when you're on an all inclusive holiday, you don't take cash to the pool, but if you say you may be interested in a spa treatment or excursion, they expect payment there and then, even expecting you to go to your room for the money. It's a large resort and that could be a 20 minute round trip. Seems needless when they could just charge it to your room.
The drinks were not amazing, the Egyptian Stella is foul, Heineken was available at 3 Euros Extra.
I drank mojitos for the week and they weren't bad if you tip regularly.
The position of the resort in Makadi Bay meant it got a breeze of varying strengths throughout our stay, getting quite strong towards the end. Surprisingly on the beach, the wind brakes were extremely effective in blocking it out but around the pool it was still blowing drinks over and making it chilly to lay there.
We would come to makadi bay again, just not this resort.Natália from Slovakia – 18 September 2024 (9/10)
Great staff, nice evening program, a lot of activities, good security, nice food.
What could be improved: The only minus is that we found the sea to be too shallow, but maybe that works for somebody. Also desserts could be less artificial. I would recommend to do smaller selection of sweets but better quality ingredients would be great.Yasser from Oman – 24 August 2024 (9/10)
From checking with Mr Mahmoud with big smile and make u feel home, it was a great experience and we will be visiting again.
What could be improved: Pool restricted hours, almost everything stops by sundown except bar or disco
