So here’s the thing about Cook’s Club El Gouna – it’s actually one of those places that gets the adults-only concept right without being stuffy about it. I mean, you’re not going to find screaming kids by the pool, but you’re also not stuck in some uptight resort where everyone whispers. The whole vibe is more like… relaxed confidence, if that makes sense.

El Gouna itself is this weird little bubble in the Red Sea – sort of like someone decided to build a Mediterranean town in the Egyptian desert, complete with canals and lagoons. Cook’s Club sits right in the thick of it, and honestly, the location is pretty sweet. You can walk to the marina area without breaking a sweat (well, okay, you’ll sweat a little because it’s Egypt, but you know what I mean), and there’s this whole network of bridges and waterways that make evening strolls actually enjoyable. The hotel doesn’t feel isolated like some of these big resort complexes – you’re part of the town, which I really appreciated.

What surprised me most was how they nailed the details without overthinking it. The rooms have this clean, slightly industrial design that could’ve felt cold, but somehow doesn’t. Maybe it’s the way the light hits those concrete walls, or how they’ve got just enough local touches without going full pharaoh-themed like half the hotels in Hurghada. The beds are genuinely comfortable – and I’m picky about mattresses – plus the air conditioning actually works properly, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given in this part of the world.

The pool area is where this place really shines though. It’s got these different levels and sections, so even when it’s busy you can find your spot. There’s this one corner where the older crowd tends to hang out with their books, and another section that’s more social. The staff seems to get the rhythm of the place – they’re around when you need them but not hovering. I watched them handle the evening crowd changeover from day drinkers to dinner people pretty seamlessly.

Food-wise, it’s better than you’d expect from a 4-star. Not mind-blowing, but solid and varied enough that you won’t get bored if you’re staying for a week. The breakfast spread actually includes some decent local options alongside the usual international stuff. And here’s something practical – the WiFi works throughout the property, even by the pool, which saved me from having to trek back to my room every time I needed to check something.

The whole El Gouna area gets pretty quiet after the marina restaurants close, but that’s kind of the point. If you want crazy nightlife, you’re in the wrong place anyway. This is more about good weather, decent food, a nice pool, and not having to think too hard about anything. The 9.2 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the coast, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises.
