Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around the Red Sea, but this little ground floor apartment in Mangroovy really surprised me. You know how sometimes you book something and cross your fingers it’s not a total disaster? Well, this was actually the opposite – it ended up being one of those finds that makes you want to keep it secret so it doesn’t get too popular.

The whole Mangroovy complex is tucked away from the main tourist chaos of Hurghada, which honestly is a blessing. El Gouna has this weird vibe where it feels like someone built a Mediterranean village in the desert (because that’s basically what happened), and this apartment sits right in the middle of that. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time – it’s not huge, but it’s never packed, and the water’s actually clean, which I can’t say about every place I’ve stayed. The ground floor thing is genius because you just walk out your door and you’re basically poolside. No trudging up and down stairs with wet feet and beach gear.

Inside, it’s honestly more spacious than the photos make it look. The bedroom’s got decent AC – and trust me, you’ll need it because even in spring the heat can be brutal. The kitchen’s small but functional, which matters if you’re like me and get tired of eating out every meal. There’s a little grocery store about a five-minute walk away where you can grab basics, though the selection’s pretty limited. The bathroom’s nothing fancy, but the water pressure’s good and it stays hot, which is more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve been to.

What really sold me on this place was the location within El Gouna itself. You’re close enough to walk to the marina area – maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush – where all the restaurants and nightlife are. But you’re far enough away that you’re not hearing music and people until 3 AM. The lagoons are right there too, and I mean right there. You can see the water from the apartment, and there’s this walking path that connects everything. It’s actually pretty magical in the early morning when the light hits the water just right.

The owner was responsive when I had questions, and check-in was smooth – none of that “oh, we don’t have your reservation” drama. Parking’s not an issue if you rent a car, which I’d recommend because while El Gouna’s walkable, having wheels gives you freedom to explore Hurghada proper or take day trips.

I mean, it’s not luxury – it’s a three-star place and it feels like it. But sometimes that’s exactly what you want. It’s clean, comfortable, and in a spot where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re missing out on everything. The pool alone makes it worth it, especially during those afternoon hours when the sun’s too intense for the beach.
