Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Cozy Apartment Freedom” on the booking site, I was a bit skeptical. The name sounds like it was translated through Google a few times, you know? But actually stepping into this place on Safaga’s corniche completely changed my mind. It’s one of those spots where the reality is way better than what you’d expect from the photos online.

The location is what really makes this place shine, and I mean that in the most practical way possible. You’re literally right on the corniche – that waterfront road that locals use for their evening strolls – so you can roll out of bed and be at the Red Sea in about thirty seconds. The apartment itself has this lived-in comfort that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than some sterile hotel room. The balcony (and trust me, you want a unit with the balcony) gives you this perfect view of the water, especially during those incredible Red Sea sunsets that happen around 5:30 PM most of the year. I spent way too many evenings out there with a cup of tea just watching the fishing boats come back in.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – the corniche isn’t one of those crazy busy strips, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and just hear the waves. The apartment comes with a little kitchenette that’s honestly better equipped than I expected, which is clutch if you want to grab some fresh fish from the local market (there’s one about a ten-minute walk inland) and cook it yourself. The owner – lovely guy, speaks decent English – actually told me the best times to hit the market when the catch is freshest. Small touches like that make such a difference. The building itself is nothing fancy, sort of typical Egyptian coastal architecture, but it’s solid and well-maintained. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during busy periods, but there’s usually space along the corniche if you’re not too picky about walking an extra block. The whole area feels safe, even for solo travelers – I saw plenty of people doing their morning jogs along the water at dawn.

Honestly, for a three-star place, the 8.5 rating makes complete sense. It’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but it nails what it’s actually going for: a comfortable, authentic base for exploring this part of the Red Sea coast. The value is fantastic, especially considering you’re getting that prime waterfront location. Just don’t expect fancy concierge service or daily housekeeping – this is more about independence and soaking up the local vibe. If you’re the type who wants to experience Safaga like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, this little apartment delivers exactly that.

  The host is very kind and helpful.
  He speaks fluent English, German, and of course Arabic.
  
  The location is close to cafés and restaurants, and has a lot of free parking.
  The rooftop terrace has spectacular views.
  
  The apartment comes with a kitchen, fridge, etc. as well as 3 beds (1 bedroom, one in the living room) and a large shower.
  
  So all in all a great apartment!
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately (like with most hotels in Egypt) COVID and the political situation since 2014 lead to a decrease in tourism.
  The staff makes do with the little bookings they get and the apartment is not really affected by that.
  The host is great, as is the apartment.
  
  However: be aware – Safaga as a whole has suffered a lot during the last decade and looks different than it did a while ago.
  A lot of the hotels and restaurants / cafés have closed and beaches are littered / occupied by fishermen.
  There is close no no tourism, and a lot of deserted, closed / desolate run-down holiday complexes.
  Spooky.
