You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Sahl Hasheesh, but this suite at Azzurra Resort completely caught me off guard. The E601 unit is honestly one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’re getting away with something – 95 square meters of space that feels way more luxurious than the star rating suggests. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of “oh, this is actually nice” that hits you, especially after dealing with the typical cramped hotel rooms you find along the Red Sea coast.

The location is pretty brilliant, actually. Sahl Hasheesh isn’t as chaotic as central Hurghada – I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’re still in Egypt so there’s energy everywhere – but this area has this more laid-back resort vibe that locals have started calling the “quiet side.” The suite sits perfectly where you can hear the waves if you open the balcony doors (which you’ll want to do constantly because the breeze is incredible), but you’re not dealing with the party crowds that hit some of the other resort strips. I spent most mornings just sitting out there with coffee, watching the fishing boats head out before the tourist boats take over the water.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside – the kind of stuff that tells you someone actually cares about this place. The kitchen setup is proper functional, not just for show, which is rare in resort accommodations. I ended up cooking a few meals because, honestly, sometimes you need a break from restaurant food, and the local market in Sahl Hasheesh (about a 10-minute walk) has amazing fresh seafood and produce. The bedroom space is generous enough that you don’t feel like you’re living out of a suitcase, and the bathroom – well, let’s just say I’ve stayed in 5-star places with worse showers. The water pressure is solid, which anyone who’s traveled in this region knows can be hit or miss.

The building itself is quiet, which surprised me. No slamming doors or hallway conversations at all hours. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that resort upselling pressure you usually get. The whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel situation. If you’re planning to visit during the cooler months (November through March), this place is absolutely perfect. Summer gets intense anywhere in Hurghada, but that sea breeze and the smart layout of the suite keeps things comfortable. I’d definitely come back – actually, I’m already thinking about booking again for next winter.
