Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Diamond Resert” with that spelling, I had my doubts. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this little 3-star gem in Hurghada absolutely does that.
The location is actually pretty sweet if you know the area. It’s right where the old Sheraton used to be – locals still call it that even though it’s been years – and you’re literally across from Dream Beach. I mean, you step out the front door and there’s this gorgeous stretch of Red Sea coastline right there. No need to hunt around for beach access or pay extra fees at some fancy resort. The whole setup feels more authentic than those massive hotel complexes further down the coast, honestly. You get that real Hurghada vibe here, with the sound of fishing boats heading out early in the morning and the call to prayer drifting over from the nearby mosque – it’s not for everyone, but I found it kind of soothing actually.
What really gets me about this place is how it punches way above its weight for a 3-star hotel. The staff genuinely seems to care – not in that over-the-top resort way, but like they actually want you to have a good time. Check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived pretty early), and the guy at the front desk knew exactly which restaurants in the area serve decent koshari and where to catch the microbus to the souk without getting ripped off. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and the AC works – which, trust me, in Hurghada heat is basically all you need. There’s this little balcony situation where you can actually see the water if you crane your neck just right, and the Wi-Fi is surprisingly decent for Egypt. I spent a few evenings just sitting there with my laptop, listening to the waves and getting caught up on work emails.
The real magic happens when you realize you’re staying in this perfect middle ground between the tourist bubble and the real Egypt. Sure, it’s not the Four Seasons, but honestly? I’ve stayed at some seriously expensive places along this coast that didn’t have half the character this place does. The breakfast is simple but fresh – lots of local bread, cheese, and fruit – and there’s this tiny restaurant next door run by this older Egyptian guy who makes the best grilled fish I had during my entire trip. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to Marina Boulevard when you want that tourist strip experience, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with constant noise and crowds. It’s sort of the best of both worlds, you know? For the price point and that 9-rating it’s got, I can see why people keep coming back here.
