So I stumbled across this duplex place in El Gouna completely by accident – honestly, I was just browsing for something different from the usual hotel room, and this Duplex 1BR with the king bed and sofa bed caught my eye. You know what struck me first? The fact that it’s literally steps from the pool, which sounds obvious from the name, but I mean you can actually hear the gentle splash of water from your window. There’s something oddly soothing about that constant, subtle background noise – way better than traffic sounds you get in most places.

El Gouna itself is this quirky little resort town that feels like someone dropped a piece of Mediterranean charm into the Red Sea coast. The address puts you right in the Kafr area, which locals just call “the residential bit” – it’s where you actually feel like you’re living somewhere rather than just visiting a hotel. The duplex setup is pretty clever, actually. Downstairs you’ve got this open living area with the sofa bed (which is surprisingly comfortable, I tested it during an afternoon nap), and upstairs there’s the bedroom with this massive king bed that honestly made me question why I ever accepted anything smaller. The stairs between levels creak just a tiny bit, but in that charming old-house way, not the “is this place falling apart” way.

What I really loved was how the place manages to feel both spacious and cozy at the same time. The kitchen area – well, it’s more like a kitchenette – has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the local market and make breakfast instead of eating out every single meal. And speaking of the local market, it’s about a ten-minute walk through these winding streets that smell like jasmine in the evenings. The whole El Gouna vibe is pretty relaxed; you’ll see people wandering around in flip-flops at all hours, and nobody’s in a rush to get anywhere.

The pool situation is legitimately great – it’s not one of those tiny decorative pools that’s basically a large bathtub. You can actually swim laps if that’s your thing, or just float around with a drink, which became my preferred afternoon activity. The water temperature stays perfect pretty much year-round, though I’d say avoid the peak summer months unless you really love intense heat. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly formal hotel lobby nonsense, just friendly people who actually seem happy to see you.

I mean, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge who knows your coffee order by heart. But sometimes you want that middle ground between a basic room and a fancy resort where you feel like you can’t touch anything. The location puts you close enough to Hurghada’s main attractions without being stuck in the tourist chaos, and the Red Sea is right there when you want to snorkel or just stare at ridiculously blue water. Honestly, for the price point and the space you get, plus that whole “living like a local” feeling, it’s pretty hard to beat.

  From the moment we arrived, the apartment exceeded any expectations. Nestled in the heart of El Gouna, the location is perfect. Just minutes from the Marina, beaches, restaurants, and shops, yet tucked away enough to enjoy peace and privacy. The appartement itself is beautifully designed, bright, airy, and very clean.
