Honestly, when I first pulled up to El Karma Beach Resort & Aqua Park on El Gouna Road, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how these bigger resorts can be, sort of hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in a good way. The location is pretty smart, tucked into the North Al Ahiaa area where you’re far enough from Hurghada’s main tourist chaos but still close enough to grab a taxi into town when you want some local flavor. The first thing that hits you is just how sprawling this place is – I mean, it takes a solid five minutes to walk from the lobby to some of the rooms, which can be annoying when you’re hauling luggage, but also means there’s space to breathe.

What really sets El Karma apart is that aqua park they’ve got going on. I’ve stayed at plenty of four-star places along the Red Sea, and most have your standard pool setup, but these guys went all in with the water slides and lazy river situation. The kids absolutely lose their minds over it (in the best way), and honestly, even as an adult, floating around that lazy river with a drink in hand while watching the desert hills in the distance is pretty therapeutic. The beach itself is decent – not the pristine white sand you’ll find further south in Marsa Alam, but the coral reef access is actually better here than some of the pricier spots. You can snorkel right off the shore and see some solid marine life, though the reef’s seen better days if I’m being completely honest.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – nothing fancy but clean and functional, with that slightly dated Egyptian resort vibe that’s somehow charming rather than off-putting. Air conditioning works well (crucial in Hurghada’s heat), and most rooms have at least a partial sea view, though “sea view” sometimes means you’re looking past the pool deck and some palm trees. Food’s the usual resort buffet situation – not going to win any culinary awards, but there’s enough variety to keep you fed, and they do a decent job with the fresh seafood. Pro tip: the Egyptian breakfast items are way better than the Continental stuff they put out for tourists. Service can be a bit hit or miss – some staff members are genuinely helpful and friendly, while others seem like they’re just going through the motions, which probably explains that 7.3 rating. It’s not perfect, but for families or couples who want a decent Red Sea experience without breaking the bank, El Karma delivers on the basics and then some. Just don’t expect five-star polish, and you’ll probably leave pretty satisfied.

  You get exactly what it says only. The Chinese restaurant was excellent, and we didn't mind paying the extra €20 for wine to wash it all down.
  
  What could be improved: All inclusive food and drink was very repetitive. Everyone saves sun loungers early every day. The pool tables are pretty rubbish. Closed the pool at 1815 everyday and not at sunset.

  The staff are very cooperative, Aqua park was perfect, multiple swimming pools, Chinese restaurant was excellent, site is neat and clean.

  The management staff very professional and have the know how of dealing with their guests.
  Special thanks to Mr Handy sedhom for his great efforts which made our stay and changed all the bad things of the 1st night 100%. He was a good listener and took an immediate decision which completely changed our impression to the positive manner

  Great staff. Most friendly and helpful. Everything about the resort is acceptable . Room is pretty large ,clean,and well equipped and comfortable.thanks for HK staff absolutely outstanding. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient.very pleased with my stay.

  -There is no internal phone book list in our room, ext. 0 is always busy what if we have an emergency??
  – There is no a good coffee,only one automated machine available in terrace bar that I consider OK,however it is out of order and breaches safety rules (photo att. )for few days hasn't been fixed yet. "Thanks to Youssef Mahmoud,he goes an extra mile to offer us a good espresso

  What could be improved: Had to pay extra for New Year’s dinner, I would prefer to pay a higher price but to have it originally included. When we were checking in, the staff was not nice, the man at the reception demanded payment again in a very rude manner although I told him that we had payed online in advance. Even when I showed him the papers proving our payment he didn’t even say sorry…
