Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this place on El Gouna Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little one-bedroom gem absolutely did that.
The thing about staying in Alahyaa is that you’re actually in a proper residential area, not crammed into some tourist bubble. I mean, you’ll hear the call to prayer in the morning (which is honestly pretty beautiful once you get used to it), and there’s this little bakery about two blocks down where locals grab their morning bread – the smell of fresh baladi bread drifting through the streets around 6 AM is something else. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not a sterile hotel room. The bedroom has these heavy curtains that block out the Egyptian sun completely (trust me, you’ll appreciate this if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the living area is spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re living out of a suitcase. What really got me was the kitchen – it’s actually functional, with a proper fridge and everything you need to make breakfast or store those late-night shawarma leftovers from downtown Hurghada.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: yes, you’re about a 15-minute ride from the main hotel strip along the coast, but that’s actually perfect. You avoid all the resort crowds and inflated prices, but you’re still close enough to hit Sakala Square or the marina whenever you want. The taxi drivers in this neighborhood know the spot well – just say “Alahyaa” and they’ll get you there. Parking isn’t an issue if you’re renting a car, which I’d honestly recommend for exploring the desert roads toward El Gouna. The building itself is quiet, especially compared to those massive resort complexes where you’ve got pool parties until midnight. I actually managed to sleep in past 7 AM for the first time in months. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls home, and the air conditioning – well, it does the job, though it takes a few minutes to cool down the space when you first walk in from the heat. One small thing: the hot water takes a minute to kick in, but that’s pretty standard for this part of Egypt. Overall, if you want to experience Hurghada like you’re actually living there temporarily rather than just passing through, this place nails it. The host clearly cares about the space, and honestly, for the price point, you’re getting way more character and comfort than you’d find in most hotel chains.

Apartment was perfect. Small but perfectly formed. Bed comfortable. Shower powerful. Balcony had a lovely view
What could be improved: Could possibly use more cooking equipment. A wooden spoon, scissors and a tin opener is all it would need. Oh and a corkscrew.Amir from Egypt – 20 September 2023 (10/10)
