Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places along the Red Sea coast, but this standalone villa in Soma Bay honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re driving down Wadi Jebal (which, let’s be real, sounds way more intimidating than it actually is), you might wonder if you took a wrong turn somewhere. But then you see this two-bedroom place sitting there with those huge windows facing the water, and you get it. The “elevated” part isn’t just marketing speak – you’re literally perched up enough to catch those morning breezes that make all the difference when it’s pushing 35°C outside.

What really sold me was walking onto that terrace for the first time. I mean, you’ve got the Red Sea stretching out in front of you, and on clear days – which is basically every day here – you can see the coral reefs just offshore. The beach access is actually free, which seems obvious until you realize half the resorts in Hurghada charge extra for everything. The pool’s nothing fancy, sort of kidney-shaped and perfectly fine for cooling off, though I spent most of my time on the beach anyway. The snorkeling right off the shore is genuinely spectacular; I saw more fish in one morning than I did during that overpriced boat trip I took last year in Sharm.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking: the place gets pretty quiet after sunset (which you’ll either love or hate depending on what you’re after), and while there’s a small market about ten minutes away, you’ll want to stock up on basics in Hurghada proper before heading out. The Wi-Fi actually works well – worked from the terrace a couple mornings without issues. Check-in was smooth, though the property manager speaks more Arabic than English, which wasn’t really a problem but good to know. Honestly, for a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight. That 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be some luxury resort, but it nails everything it’s supposed to do. The beds are comfortable, the AC works properly (crucial), and you wake up to that view every morning. If you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a genuine Red Sea experience without the tourist circus, and you don’t mind being a bit self-sufficient, it’s pretty much perfect.

  Heerlijk locatie, je woont prachtig. Relax, alles aanwezig.
  Goed keuken en slaapkamer, mooie airconditioning. Eigenaar heel behulpzaam. Komt direct voor hulp en beantwoord ook direct je vragen.
  Het was een heel gezellige en leuke dagen is soma bay.

  geen eigen prive zwembad. Maar een eigen wijk zwembad. Nog steeds geen prive dus.
