You know what really struck me about Elgouna Hurghada when I first walked up to that second floor entrance on El Gouna 1 Road? It’s got this laid-back mangrove vibe that’s completely different from the typical Red Sea resort scene. I mean, El Gouna itself is already this planned resort town that feels more like a Mediterranean village than traditional Egypt, but this place – honestly, it captures something even more relaxed. The location on Mangroovy M10 puts you right in the heart of things without the chaos you’d expect from a 9.7-rated spot. I was actually surprised by how quiet it stays, even during peak season when the main lagoons are packed with kitesurfers and tourists wandering between the Tamr Henna and Abu Tig marinas.

What really gets me is how the owners have managed to nail that sweet spot between authentic local character and comfort that actually works for travelers. The three-star rating might make you think it’s basic, but honestly – and I’ve stayed in plenty of overpriced five-star places along this coast – the attention to detail here puts bigger properties to shame. You can hear the gentle sounds from the nearby waterways in the morning, which beats the usual construction noise you get elsewhere in Hurghada proper. The mangrove setting means you’re getting those cooling breezes that make the Egyptian heat totally manageable, plus there’s something about waking up to that brackish water smell mixed with desert air that just works. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that resort rigmarole where they try to sell you excursions before you’ve even seen your room.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t for everyone, and I appreciate that about the place. If you’re looking for a massive pool complex or nightly entertainment, you’ll want to head toward the main El Gouna hotels closer to the golf course. But if you actually want to experience what makes this part of the Red Sea coast special, beyond just the diving and beaches, this spot gets it right. The walk to Downtown El Gouna takes maybe ten minutes, so you’re not isolated, but you’re far enough from the main tourist flow to feel like you’ve found something genuine. I’d definitely come back, especially during shoulder season when the weather’s perfect and you can really appreciate how thoughtfully this whole area has been developed around the natural lagoon system.

  Had an amazing stay, the apartment was very clean and organised, the rooms had everything we needed including towels, utensils, tissues, soap, etc. In addition to having a great location near the beach. The host was extremely welcoming and nice. Definetly highly recommended.

  The owner was very helpful because the Google map directions were not accurate. So he was kindly meeting us by the road to take us to the property himself

  It was a clean apartment. Close to the supermarket. Close to the kite center.
  We had a good time. The landlords were very nice and helpful.

  What could be improved: Suggestions for improvement
  an electronic door lock with 6 digits would increase the feeling of security. The four-digit key safe could easily be picked.
  The roof terrace could do with some love. There are two sun loungers but no shade. How about an awning or umbrella?
  The dining table was extremely impractical. The rounded sides take up a lot of space and there is a risk of dishes slipping off. The wide chairs were also very impractical.
  There is a huge building site right in front of the house.
