Okay, so first things first – don’t let the “3-star” rating fool you here. I mean, the Epic & Exquisite 2 BR (yeah, that’s actually its full name) is one of those places that’s way better than its official classification suggests. It’s tucked into the Mangroovy Residence complex in El Gouna, which honestly is this brilliant little planned resort town about 20 minutes north of Hurghada proper. Most people don’t realize El Gouna was basically built from scratch in the desert – it’s got these winding canals and lagoons that make it feel sort of like a Middle Eastern Venice, if Venice had year-round sunshine and way better diving.

The apartment itself is actually pretty spacious for what you’re paying, and here’s the thing that really got me – you’re literally steps from both the beach AND the pool area. I’ve stayed at plenty of places where they promise “beach access” and then you’re trudging through sand dunes for fifteen minutes with your gear. Not here. The Red Sea is right there, and the water is this incredible turquoise that looks almost fake in photos. The pool area gets busy around mid-morning when families start showing up, but if you’re an early riser (which, let’s be honest, you probably will be with the time change), you’ll have it mostly to yourself until about 9 AM. The two bedrooms are actually generous – I mean, you can fit proper suitcases without playing Tetris, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed.

What really makes this spot work is the location within El Gouna itself. You’re close enough to walk to the Marina area where all the restaurants and bars are – there’s this little shuttle system too, but honestly the walk is nice in the evenings when it cools down. The Mangroovy complex has decent security, parking isn’t a nightmare if you rent a car (which I’d recommend for exploring), and the whole area stays pretty quiet after about 10 PM since it’s more family-oriented than some of the party-heavy spots closer to Hurghada center. The kitchen is actually functional too – not just a sad mini-fridge and hot plate situation. You can grab groceries at the Tamr Henna Plaza about ten minutes away, though fair warning, it’s not exactly a Western supermarket selection.

The only thing I’d mention is that El Gouna can feel a bit artificial if you’re looking for “authentic Egypt” – it’s very much a planned resort community. But if you want gorgeous beaches, incredible snorkeling and diving, and a place that feels safe and easy to navigate while still being distinctly Egyptian, this really hits the sweet spot. Plus, you’re still close enough to do day trips to Luxor or the desert if you want the full cultural experience.
