You know what struck me first about Fanadir Hotel El Gouna? It’s right there on Abu Tig Marina’s north basin, and I mean *right there* – you can literally watch the boats bobbing from your room if you get the marina view. El Gouna itself is this sort of artificial resort town that somehow works, even though it sounds weird on paper. Think of it as Egypt’s answer to a Mediterranean resort, but with that unmistakable Red Sea vibe and way better diving nearby.

The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to hear the gentle lapping against the marina (honestly, it’s pretty soothing at night), but far enough from the main Abu Tig strip that you won’t get woken up by late-night revelers stumbling back from the bars. I stayed here during shoulder season – early October – and the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t always happen at four-star places. The check-in was refreshingly quick, none of that “please wait while we upgrade our system” nonsense you get at some Egyptian hotels. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent AC that actually works (crucial in this heat), and bathrooms that feel properly maintained rather than just cleaned around the edges, if you know what I mean.

What really makes this place work is its location within El Gouna’s master plan. You’re a short walk to Downtown El Gouna – and I mean the actual downtown area with the Tamr Henna square, not just hotel shops calling themselves downtown. The hotel runs a shuttle to the beach, which is smart because while Abu Tig Marina is gorgeous, you’ll want actual Red Sea access for swimming and snorkeling. Parking’s no issue if you rent a car, which I’d recommend for exploring beyond El Gouna – maybe hitting up Hurghada proper or some of the less touristy coastal spots. The 7.9 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. The pool area gets busy around 11 AM when families stake out the good loungers, but early morning and late afternoon it’s perfect for actual swimming rather than just floating around. Staff spoke decent English, and honestly, their Arabic was patient enough for my terrible attempts at basic phrases. If you’re looking for that balance between being in a purpose-built resort town but still feeling somewhat connected to authentic Egypt, Fanadir hits that mark pretty well.

  staff is very friendly and helpful

  The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful, professional and made us feel at home. The room was so clean, well furnished and balcony was a great plus. The room service was great and is provided everyday. The breakfastvwas good not so much variety but the quality was good. The location was exceptional overlooking the marina and it was so calm and relaxing. The marina beach, is so great l, it is extremely clean, the water is so great and the beach is sandy that you can go in without any sea shoes unlike many other beaches and the beach is very well maintained.
  
  What could be improved: The pool was not heated, and a bit shallow for an adult. Bed lines were bed old and not smooth, however itvwas extremely clean. There were not so many activities to do around the place and the ones they offer is overpriced that we had to go to hurgada for the good much cheaper activities prices.
