Honestly, when I first pulled up to Freshly Minted at Fanadir Marina, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place in El Gouna – but this little gem completely surprised me. The location is actually perfect if you know El Gouna at all; you’re right in the heart of the marina area where all the action happens, but somehow it doesn’t feel chaotic or touristy in that overwhelming way some Red Sea spots can get.

What really struck me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. I mean, you know how some places just go through the motions? Not here. The guy at reception (I think his name was Ahmed) actually remembered I’d mentioned wanting to try kitesurfing and pointed me toward the best spots along the lagoon – not just the obvious tourist traps everyone knows about. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which honestly is more than I can say for some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed in Hurghada. The air conditioning actually keeps up with the Egyptian heat, the shower has decent pressure, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes.

But here’s what really sold me on this place – the marina setting is just spectacular, especially in the evening when the boats start coming back and the whole area comes alive. You can walk to pretty much everything worth doing in El Gouna from here, and I actually enjoyed wandering around the canals and bridges way more than I expected. The hotel sits right where you can easily grab a taxi or one of those little tuk-tuks to the beaches if you want proper Red Sea snorkeling, but you’re also close enough to the town center that you can stroll over for dinner without planning your whole evening around transportation. I noticed they keep the common areas really well-maintained too – no peeling paint or broken tiles like you sometimes see. The whole place just feels like someone actually cares about it, you know? Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with luxury amenities, but sometimes you just want a solid, well-run place where you can relax without any drama, and that’s exactly what Freshly Minted delivers.
