You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Golden Apartments El Gouna when I first pulled up – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and honestly, the name doesn’t exactly scream luxury. But here’s the thing about El Gouna that you figure out pretty quickly: location trumps everything else, and these guys nailed it. Right there on the waterside, you’re literally steps from the lagoons that make this whole resort town so special. I actually ended up loving how low-key it felt compared to some of the flashier places down the coast.

The apartments themselves are… well, they’re apartments. Nothing fancy, but they’ve got that lived-in feel that’s actually kind of refreshing when you’re tired of sterile hotel rooms. The kitchenettes are surprisingly functional – I mean, you’re not going to be cooking elaborate meals, but making coffee in the morning without having to get dressed and hunt down a café? That’s worth something. The air conditioning works (crucial in Hurghada, trust me), and most units have decent views of the water or at least the town. What really sold me though was how quiet it gets at night. El Gouna can get pretty lively, especially around the marina area, but tucked away on the waterside here, you actually get some peace. The soundproofing isn’t perfect, but it’s way better than I expected.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the real magic happens when you step outside. You’re basically in the heart of what makes El Gouna special – those incredible lagoons and waterways that feel more like Venice than Egypt. The hotel staff (who are genuinely helpful, by the way) will point you toward the best spots for swimming that aren’t packed with tourists, and you can walk to most of the decent restaurants without needing a taxi. The marina’s about a 10-minute stroll, and that’s where you’ll find the better dinner options. Parking’s not really an issue if you’re driving, but honestly, once you’re here, you’ll probably end up walking or using the tuk-tuks like everyone else. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to wow you with amenities or over-the-top service, but it does what it promises without any major disappointments. If you’re the type who needs a pool bar and daily housekeeping, look elsewhere. But if you want a solid base for exploring El Gouna without paying resort prices, and you actually prefer feeling like you’re staying somewhere with a bit of local character rather than a tourist bubble, this place makes sense.

  Everything about the place was perfect! Easy access, Parking, Cleanliness, and Access to a very near pool.

  What could be improved: They provided me with the QR code late, which made me wait at the El Gouna gates for about 30 minutes on the street. The weather was very hot and sunny

  What could be improved: They checked us in an hour and a half after the agreed check-in time, and there were no anti mosquitoes spray. Also, they should include some cleaning tools such as a mop
