You know what hits you first at the Grand Waterworld Makadi? It’s not just the impressive lobby or the sprawling pools – it’s actually how quiet everything feels despite being packed with families. I mean, they’ve somehow managed to create this bubble of calm right on Safaga Road, which honestly can get pretty hectic with all the resort traffic heading in and out of Hurghada.

The location is sort of perfect if you think about it – Makadi Bay has this protected feel since it’s tucked away from the main tourist chaos, but you’re still close enough to hop into Hurghada proper when you want some nightlife or shopping. The hotel itself sprawls along this gorgeous stretch of Red Sea coastline, and I’ve got to say, the snorkeling right off their beach is actually decent. Not world-changing, but you’ll see parrotfish and maybe some rays without having to book an expensive boat trip. The water slides are honestly the real draw here though – I watched kids (and plenty of adults, let’s be real) spend entire afternoons just going down that massive complex they’ve built. There’s this one twisty slide that dumps you into a separate pool, and even as someone who’s not usually into that stuff, I found myself queuing up.

What really surprised me was how well they handle the “couples and families only” thing – it never feels restrictive or weird, just more… I don’t know, civilized? The restaurants actually have space to breathe during dinner service, and you’re not fighting crowds of twenty-somethings for poolside loungers at 6 AM. Speaking of food, the main buffet is solid (that Egyptian breakfast spread with fresh ful and baladi bread is worth getting up early for), though honestly the Italian a la carte restaurant is where you want to make reservations. Pro tip: book it on your first day because it fills up fast, especially during European holiday seasons. The staff there – and really throughout the whole place – seem genuinely happy to help, which isn’t always a given at these big resorts. Check-in was smooth, parking is free and actually has shade (crucial in this heat), and the rooms are spacious enough that you won’t feel cramped even with kids bouncing around. The balconies face either the pools or the sea, and while the pool view might sound less appealing, you actually get better sunset shots from that side. Just saying.

  What could be improved: We had some problems with the room some were solved and one big problem the ac was not cooling the room and we asked twice for someone to fix it but i was not fixed although they send some from maintenance department

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning hotel, and I must say—it exceeded all expectations!
  The beach is absolutely breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs just a few steps from the shore—perfect for snorkeling lovers. The natural beauty is simply mesmerizing.
  The facilities and amenities throughout the resort are top-notch. Lush greenery surrounds you everywhere, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere. The multiple pools are spacious, clean, and beautifully designed to suit both relaxation and fun.
  For those seeking excitement, the adult aqua park offers thrilling slides and water adventures, while the children’s aqua park is a true paradise for the little ones—safe, colorful, and full of joy.
  Special thanks to Ms. Rania Emad, the Guest Relations Manager, whose warmth, professionalism, and personal attention truly made our stay exceptional. She ensured every detail was perfect and made us feel genuinely welcome.

  Very large resort , with several pools and nice beach, good restaurants ( specially the Mexican and italian)
  I want to thank Rania guest relation for follow up and recommendations
  Also i want to thank the Mexicans resturant staff and lobby bar and waleed from house keeping
  There were no many adults aqua slides only 7 but they were sufficient while the kids aqua was amazing
  Quick tip, there are several elevators but you need to explore ur shortcuts to save some walking 😀

  I went with my wife and two months toddler, this place is perfect for families, amazing pools, aqua and aqua for kids, food is great and tasty, snacks all over the day, amazing restaurants both open buffets and a la carte , more than 8 restaurants and you have to try them all, every chef in every restaurant is very respectful and cooperative and will help you with everything you need even if it’s not in the buffet, staff is great, room was perfect spacious and clean.

  The hotel staff were friendly, respectful, and professional. The rooms are very good and large and have extra beds for children. We had a problem with the air conditioning at the beginning, and it was solved immediately. The desserts in the main restaurant are fantastic and different from any other hotel I have stayed in.
  There are many bars in the hotel everywhere and this was good .
  
  What could be improved: 1. The food quality is not good at all and not varied like many five-star hotels.
  2. The daily free evening party was cancelled at one day in order to hold a foam party that is not free and for a large additional fee.
  3. The African cafe has shisha at an exorbitant price, even for tourist prices. Egyptians must be given reasonable prices as happens in many countries.
  4. Restaurants with advance reservations are almost worse than the main restaurant in terms of food taste (and this is my personal opinion). 5. The animation team's style in evening parties must be developed and more interactive with the guests.

  I loved it. It matches the description 100%. I had so much fun. There were so many restaurants to choose from and the food was always tasty. Not a single time I had any issue with it. The staff were polite and helpful. The place is always clean even when it's almost full. I didn't feel that it affected my stay at all. If you need something there is always someone to help.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside is that in the aqua, you will have to walk a portion where the floor is slippery. So, watch out if you walk barefoot. The solution is easy, just use one of those water shoes . I used my crooks and it worked just fine. I suggest that the hotel management take that in consideration and put some mats or something to make the walk easier on the way up to the aqua slides .
