Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this townhouse in Tawila, I was kind of wondering what I’d gotten myself into. The address sounds fancy enough, but you know how El Gouna can be… some areas are absolutely stunning, others feel a bit forgotten. This place actually surprised me though, in a good way.

The thing about staying in Tawila is that you’re getting the real El Gouna experience without the resort prices breathing down your neck. This townhouse sits in one of those quiet residential pockets where you’ll hear the call to prayer echoing across the lagoons in the morning instead of poolside music at 7 AM. The space itself is genuinely homey – I mean, someone clearly lives here part-time because there are actual books on the shelves (not just decorator nonsense) and the kitchen has proper spices in it. All three bedrooms are decent sized, though the master gets the best breeze if you’re visiting during the shoulder seasons when AC costs start adding up. The living area opens up nicely, and honestly, after spending days exploring Hurghada’s chaos, coming back to this quiet spot felt like exhaling.

What really works about this location is how walkable everything becomes once you know your way around. You’re maybe ten minutes on foot to the marina area where all the restaurants cluster – Mokai and Casa El Gouna if you’re feeling fancy, or that little Egyptian place near the bridge if you want to eat where the locals actually go. The golf course is right there too, which I didn’t expect to care about but actually ended up using their cafe for decent coffee most mornings. Parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of El Gouna, and the owner (or property manager, I’m not sure) was pretty responsive when we had a minor issue with the hot water. You know what though – the 7.7 rating feels about right. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid and comfortable, and the price point makes sense for what you get. The only thing that bugged me a bit was how the WiFi got spotty in the evenings when everyone in the neighborhood was streaming, but that’s pretty standard for this part of Egypt. If you’re looking for that full-service resort experience with someone anticipating your every need, this isn’t it. But if you want a proper home base to explore the Red Sea coast without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble, it actually works really well.
