Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Hotel Sultan Bey Resort in Kafr El Gouna – the whole El Gouna development can feel a bit artificial at first glance, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It sits right in this quieter pocket of the resort town, away from the main marina chaos but close enough that you can walk to the action when you want it. The first thing that hit me was how the lobby actually feels cool and breezy instead of that stuffy air-conditioned feeling you get at a lot of Red Sea hotels.
What really won me over though was the staff – and I mean this genuinely, not in that fake review way. The guy at reception (I think his name was Ahmed?) remembered my coffee order by day three, and the housekeeping team somehow managed to keep everything spotless despite the constant sand situation that just comes with being this close to the desert. The rooms are solid four-star stuff – nothing revolutionary, but the beds are actually comfortable and the AC works properly, which honestly is half the battle in Hurghada’s heat. The pool area gets pretty lively during the day, but here’s something I discovered by accident: if you head down around 7 AM, you’ll basically have the whole place to yourself, and the morning light hitting the water is pretty spectacular.
The beach access is where this place really shines though. You’re literally a two-minute walk from some decent snorkeling spots – not the absolute best the Red Sea has to offer, but you’ll see plenty of colorful fish without having to book an expensive boat trip. The hotel’s beach setup is unpretentious but functional, with enough shade and decent service. Food-wise, the breakfast buffet covers all the basics (the fresh fruit is actually fresh, thank god), and their Egyptian night dinners are worth trying at least once. I mean, the location puts you close enough to venture into El Gouna’s restaurant scene, but sometimes you just want to eat by the pool without thinking about it. The whole vibe here is relaxed without being sleepy – you’ll find families during school holidays and couples year-round, but it never feels overrun. For what you’re paying and that 8.5 rating it’s earned, Hotel Sultan Bey Resort delivers exactly what a good four-star should: comfort, decent amenities, and that slightly intangible feeling that the people running it actually care about whether you have a good time.

We really liked the place! It is located in the center, close to the downtown with many restaurants, grocery and pharmacy. Also it has nice vibe and the whole exterior and interior made us feel like we are somewhere in Morocco or Turkey. It’s small, cozy and beautiful. Has own access to lagoon, especially I liked beach from the restaurant side.
Breakfast was very good for 4 stars hotel.
We recommend massage at the spa next door and Villa Coconut restaurant near by 🙂
This hotel worth this price and good for 4 stars.

The breakfast was great and the whole hotel had a very nice historic yet modern vibe to it. So many activities to do too to keep everyone entertained and also a boat shuttle service to take you to the nearest beach!
What could be improved: The rooms are one size so having 3 people in one room was tightSamy from Egypt – 24 May 2025 (9/10)
All the staff are cooperative and always smiling when meeting and dealing with them. The cleanliness of the hotel and the place is very high. My family enjoyed the place very much and the staff’s treatment of us. My family enjoyed the party program, which was held tonight when we arrived.

The hotel is well designed to feel a bit like a village and its location is convenient to the town center, but apart enough for some tranquility. The rooms are designed with pleasant references to regional style without being either overdone or cheap.

we booked 2 nights because our usual hotel was fully booked. we had a very nice view on the laguna.
the staff is very friendly and the breakfast is super with fresh fruit, a station for eggs and waffles and pancakes, yoghurt, etc. the setting at the laguna is very nice. friday evening is the night out in el gouna and we heard music from a restaurant nearby untill 1h30. rooms were equiped with all we need and the beds are very comfortable. we are used to the marina and this side of el gouna is more downtown and all-in public. we had a very nice stay ! sultan bey is highly recommended !
