Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Hurghada Scandic Resort, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what? Sometimes these mid-range spots surprise you in the best way. The name’s a bit of a mouthful (seriously, who came up with that marketing department novel?), but once you get past that, there’s actually something pretty special going on here.

The private beach situation is legit – I mean, it’s not massive, but it’s genuinely theirs, and that coral reef they mention? Yeah, it’s right there. You can literally wade out maybe 50 meters and start seeing decent coral formations. I’ve stayed at fancier places in Hurghada where you had to take a boat trip to see anything underwater, so this was refreshing. The snorkeling gear at reception is pretty basic stuff, but it does the job if you’re not too picky. What I really appreciated was how quiet the beach area stays – even when the resort fills up (which seems to happen around German school holidays, just so you know), there’s enough space to find your own little spot.

The rooms are… well, they’re fine. Clean, the AC works without sounding like a jet engine, and the Wi-Fi actually lives up to the “free” part of their name – I was video calling family back home without issues. The view situation is hit or miss though; some rooms face the Red Sea, others look out at the neighboring resort’s service area. When you’re booking, it’s worth asking specifically about sea view because the difference is pretty dramatic. Staff at check-in were genuinely helpful about this stuff, not just going through the motions.

Here’s something I didn’t expect – the food is actually decent. It’s not going to win any awards, but the kitchen clearly knows their way around local fish, and they do this grilled seafood thing most evenings that’s honestly better than some of the pricier places I’ve tried along the corniche. Breakfast is standard resort fare, but they make fresh flatbread that’s worth getting up for. The dining area gets a nice breeze in the mornings too, which matters more than you’d think when it’s already pushing 30 degrees by 9 AM.

Location-wise, you’re about 15 minutes south of the main Hurghada action – far enough to avoid the cruise ship crowds that descend on the central hotels, but close enough that a taxi into town doesn’t break the bank. There’s a decent diving center just down the beach if you want to go deeper than the house reef, and honestly, some of the best coral I saw in the area was accessible right from their shoreline.

Look, this isn’t a luxury resort – the 7.7 rating feels about right. But if you want direct reef access without paying five-star prices, and you don’t need marble bathrooms and multiple restaurants, it’s actually a solid choice. Just maybe book directly with them rather than through some of the third-party sites – I heard other guests mention better room assignments when they did that.

  From my seaview apartment, I have enjoyed an incredible vista of the sea. The modern furnishings added a touch of elegance to the space while offering a fabulous view of yachts sailing by. The apartment is Located at the heart of Hurghada near the Hurghada Mall, I have easy access to supermarkets, restaurants, and a nearby pool area. Its proximity to the touristic promenade allowed me to immerse myself in the vibrant atmosphere of the city. With a friendly and accommodating host, my stay was delightful and welcoming.   What could be improved: The “2” sofa couches was actually just one sofa couch with two parts of it that were at different heights and didn’t fold into one larger bed. The hot water turned off due to a malfunction in the middle of my shower and I was left standing naked and soapy, shivering in a towel while maintenance attended to the issue. No hand soap. The place is sloppily put together and there is dust everywhere from the construction being done to most other units.
