Honestly, when I first pulled up to this apartment in Al-Ahyaa, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what? Sometimes the ratings don’t tell the whole story. This one-bedroom spot completely caught me off guard in the best way possible.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Hurghada at all. Al-Ahyaa isn’t right in the tourist chaos of Sekalla or the marina area, which means you’re not dealing with the constant noise of tour buses and street vendors at 6 AM (trust me, I’ve been there). Instead, you get this more authentic slice of the city where you can actually hear yourself think. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room – there’s character in the details, like the way the morning light hits the living area and how the kitchen is set up for people who might actually want to cook something beyond instant noodles. I mean, the counter space alone is better than half the “luxury” places I’ve stayed at along the coast.

What really sold me though was stepping out onto the balcony in the evening. You can catch glimpses of the Red Sea between the buildings if you crane your neck just right, and there’s something oddly peaceful about watching the neighborhood come alive as the heat dies down. The local cafes start filling up, you hear Arabic music drifting from nearby apartments, and honestly it feels like you’re experiencing real Hurghada rather than the sanitized resort version. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works (a minor miracle in some parts of Egypt), and when I had a question about where to find good koshari nearby, they didn’t just point me toward tourist traps. Parking was straightforward, which is more than I can say for some places in the busier parts of town. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re someone who needs to be within stumbling distance of the nightlife scene, this might feel a bit removed – but honestly, a quick taxi ride gets you anywhere you want to go, and you’ll be grateful for the quieter nights when you’re trying to recover from too much sun and Red Sea diving.

  I recently stayed at this flat for my holiday, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
