You know what struck me first about the Imperial Shams Abu Soma? It’s actually positioned perfectly on that stretch of Safaga Road where you start getting glimpses of the Red Sea between the rocky outcrops – maybe nine kilometers out from the main Hurghada chaos, which honestly is exactly where you want to be. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Hurghada has its charm, but Soma Bay feels like you’ve discovered something a bit more… I don’t know, refined? The hotel sits right on this gorgeous curve of coastline where the water stays that incredible turquoise blue that makes your Instagram followers think you’re using filters (you’re not).

The thing about this place – and I’ve stayed at quite a few four-stars along this coast – is that it feels more intimate than some of those massive resort complexes you see dominating other parts of the Red Sea. The staff actually remembers your name after day two, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re trying to unwind. The rooms have this clean, modern Egyptian style without going overboard on the pharaoh themes that some hotels can’t seem to resist. What I really appreciated was the balcony situation – most rooms get either sea views or garden views, and even the garden ones are pretty decent because they’ve done something clever with the landscaping that blocks out most of the road noise from the Safaga route. Check-in was surprisingly smooth for Egypt (and I say that with love – bureaucracy is just part of the experience here), though I’d still recommend arriving after 3 PM to avoid any room-readiness drama.

The beach situation is where this place really shines, honestly. It’s not the widest stretch of sand you’ll ever see, but the house reef is absolutely spectacular – you can literally walk into the water and be snorkeling with parrotfish and angelfish within five minutes. The dive center on-site knows all the good spots if you want to venture out to Abu Kafan or Panorama Reef, but honestly, you could spend days just exploring what’s right in front of the hotel. The pool area gets busy around mid-morning when families start claiming their spots, but early morning and late afternoon have this lovely quiet energy where you can actually hear the waves. Food-wise, it’s solid hotel fare – the seafood at dinner is usually fresh (they get deliveries from Hurghada port), and breakfast has that nice mix of international options plus local touches like ful and fresh bread. The 8.2 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what you hope for from a well-run Red Sea retreat without the pretension or the hefty price tag of some of the five-star places down the coast.

  We enjoyed our stay the rooms are very clean, the location is perfect, the food is good, the aqua gym was really nice, the staff are super friendly & special thanks to Mr. Mahmoud who offered us free room upgrade and Mr. Mohamed Ramadan for his attention to make our stay unique and ensuring that we are satisfied to the max. This is our first visit at Imperial Shams Soma bay but of course will not be the last!!

  We spend 9 days in Shams Imperial hotel.
  All the staff was really nice with us.
  The room was well cleaned every day.
  We choosed the "all inclusive" formula wich is the best for me because it's not expensive and the restaurant provided various good meals and beverages all the day.
  We choosed this hotel because it is closed to the Ion club which rent windsurf and kite equipments. Other equipments. (swimming pool, Gym, …) help us to have good time the days without wind.
  
  What could be improved: There is only one thing that i didn't appreciate, it's not really possible to walk outside the hotel area because the hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the desert.

  The location of the resort is very nice and the beach is sandy and safe for children; no waves ; you can make snorkeling or diving to see amazing colored fishes and other creatures; staff are very friendly and helpful; all services are near by me wherever I have been nearby the beach ; pools ; main building; rooms…etc.
  The room is very clean; and and staff came inside every day to change towels and clean the room ; change mattress…etc.
  All rooms have Seaview and most of it have pool & Seaview at the same time.
  Food was good enough comparing with the cost of the stay.
  Soft and hard drinks available there as per booking choice.
  Best value for price.
  Recommended to visit Imperial Shams for a long stay.🥰💞
  
  What could be improved: The resort is little bit small but all residents have access to Shams Safaga pool & Aqua Park ; beach ; and every thing except rooms and restaurant .
  Also the restaurant area is little bit small.
  The food is good ; tasty but not this much varied at the same meals ; but also you have snacks most of the day nearby pools and beach.
  Aqua Park have 4 slides only but suitable for adults as well as children.
