Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to JAZ Makadi Oasis Resort – you know how these big Red Sea properties can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The whole Makadi Bay area has this slightly more upscale vibe compared to the chaos of central Hurghada, and JAZ sits right in the sweet spot where you get that polished resort feel without feeling completely cut off from everything.

What really got me was how they’ve managed the whole desert-meets-sea thing. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by these dramatic sandy hills on one side and then boom – there’s this incredible stretch of coral reef just steps from the beach. The snorkeling here is honestly some of the best I’ve experienced along this coast, and I’ve been to most of the major spots between Safaga and El Gouna. You don’t even need to book those pricey boat trips because the house reef is actually worth your time (which, let’s be real, isn’t always the case at resort properties). The water stays pretty calm most of the year too, though it does get a bit choppy during those winter wind periods – but that’s true anywhere along this stretch.

The resort itself feels surprisingly spacious for a place that’s clearly popular with families and couples alike. They’ve done this smart thing where the pools and restaurants are spread out enough that you’re not constantly bumping into the same people, but it’s not so sprawling that you need a golf cart to get around. Check-in was smooth – no standing around in some sweltering lobby situation – and the staff actually seem to know the area well enough to give you decent recommendations beyond the usual tourist traps. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; some of these Red Sea resorts can turn into party central, but JAZ strikes that nice balance where you can have fun during the day and actually sleep at night. The food was solid too, which honestly shocked me because resort dining can be such a gamble. They’ve got this great seafood setup that takes advantage of being right on the coast, and the Egyptian nights they do actually feel authentic rather than some touristy performance. If you’re thinking about timing, I’d say avoid the peak European holiday periods unless you love crowds, but shoulder season here is absolutely perfect – warm enough for swimming but not so packed that you’re fighting for lounge chairs.

  We recently stayed at Jaz Makadi Oasis in Hurghada, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The hotel is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, and the aqua park was fantastic — fun for both kids and adults.
  
  What truly made this hotel stand out was the incredible staff. From the chefs to the housekeeping team to the receptionists — everyone was always smiling, friendly, and eager to help. Their positive attitude and excellent service made our stay unforgettable.

  It is a truly remarkable place. The food is amazing, and the beach is magnificent but the surrounding places can more or less offer that. What I loved most was the exceptional staff. They are just WONDERFUL, especially if you have your parents or kids with you. They are extremely helpful. EVERYONE. The person picking up your bags when you first check-in, the receptionists, the person taking care of your room, the restaurant servers, …etc. This is my second time of taking my mom and kids to this place and they all loved it.

  Very friendly and helpful staff, ready to help with everything in any time. Tasty food – especially meet. Every day is full of free activities and something new. Heated pool is perfect, very comfortable at winter
  
  What could be improved: Problems with security and transfers – book a car 30 min in advance always. It would be great to add more cosmetic options like shower caps or toothpaste. Food is tasty, but it would be perfect if the fruit selection will be wider. Tours’ prices are twice from the original ones. And if you are going in winter be ready to sleep under two bedsheets

  It is a beautiful place with a lot of activities, not only for adults but also for kids. Food is amazing with tons of options for vegetarians or meat lovers. Drinks are also highly recommended. Shopping stores are better inside the hotel than outside. We heard different experiences of fraud when buying tours outside the hotel and overcharging the cards. All the hotel was super clean and the staff was very friendly.
  
  What could be improved: The air-conditioning in the room was very loud. Only one of the swimming pools was heated but the hotel was quite empty, so maybe not Worthy to have both heated.
