But actually staying at this place in El Gouna’s Mangroovy Residence completely changed my mind. The terrace is what really gets you – I mean, you’re literally overlooking the pool area, and there’s something oddly satisfying about watching other guests float around on their inflatables while you’re sipping coffee up there in the morning. El Gouna itself is this sort of artificial resort town (they basically built it from scratch in the desert), but honestly? It works. The whole place feels like a laid-back Venice with way better weather and significantly fewer tourists trying to sell you things.

What I didn’t expect was how quiet it gets at night. Sure, you’ll hear some pool chatter during the day, but by evening the Mangroovy complex settles into this peaceful rhythm where the only real sounds are the occasional splash and maybe some distant music from the marina area. The beach access is legit too – you’re not walking for twenty minutes like at some places, it’s actually a quick stroll to proper Red Sea coastline. The apartment itself is pretty straightforward (it’s a 3-star spot, so don’t expect marble everything), but the kitchen actually has decent equipment, and the air conditioning works properly, which… you know what, that matters more than fancy fixtures when it’s 40 degrees outside. I spent way more time on that terrace than I planned – there’s something about the view that makes you want to just sit there and watch the day happen.

The whole El Gouna thing is interesting because it feels like you’re in this bubble of calm, but you’re still close enough to Hurghada (maybe 30 minutes) if you want the chaos of a proper Egyptian city. The Mangroovy complex has this community feel where people actually talk to each other by the pool, which doesn’t always happen at these places. I ended up getting restaurant recommendations from a German couple who’d been coming here for years – apparently the seafood place near the marina is where the locals actually eat, not the touristy spots closer to the hotels. One small thing that bugged me initially was the WiFi being a bit spotty on the terrace (works fine inside), but honestly, that might have been a blessing in disguise. The rating of 9.2 seems about right – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for a place where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re trapped in a resort bubble, this works really well.

  We really liked this place. The place is super, with a gorgeous pool, and the open sea was very close. There was a good online service with a manager, all the questions that arose were resolved quickly enough. These were a couple of minor comments on cleaning, but they were not clear to the overall impression.
