You know what? The Joubal Apartment caught me off guard in the best way possible. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this place on Elgouna Club Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot. But there’s something about El Gouna that just works, and this little apartment hotel gets it right. The location is actually pretty smart – you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos but still close enough to walk to the marina when you want some action.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel room, which I mean in a good way. The kitchen isn’t huge but it’s functional enough to make coffee in the morning or store those weird Egyptian yogurt drinks you’ll inevitably become obsessed with. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – El Gouna can be surprisingly peaceful once the day-trippers head back to Hurghada, and the Joubal sits in one of those pockets where you actually hear the wind more than traffic. The furnishing is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but everything worked and the AC was a godsend during those brutal afternoon hours.

Here’s the thing about this place that won’t show up in most reviews – the staff actually knows El Gouna. Like, really knows it. They’ll tell you which kitesurf schools are worth your time (spoiler: avoid the ones right by the main beach), where to get decent shawarma that won’t destroy your stomach, and honestly, their timing advice saved me from some serious sunburn disasters. The 7.5 rating makes sense when you think about it – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what you need for exploring this weird, wonderful planned resort town. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, which is sort of a miracle in this part of Egypt. If you’re planning to use El Gouna as a base for Red Sea diving or just want somewhere comfortable to crash between beach days without paying resort prices, the Joubal does the job really well.

  What could be improved: The apartment had a great view and location, but there were a few issues. There weren’t enough towels or any pillowcases, none of the kettles were working, the oven didn’t have an on/off button, and the microwave wasn’t working either. Just wanted to let you know

  The view from the balcony was very nice and the location was fantastic, unit was equipped with all necessary means to make us feel comfort, thanks to the owner
  
  What could be improved: Some furniture need maintenance as the balcony chairs, electrical heater for the kitchen wasn't work, more blankets were needed, as it was so cold.
