Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about La Casa de Playa Tawila? The sheer size of this place – I mean, when they say 4-bedroom private villa, they’re not kidding around. This isn’t some cramped vacation rental masquerading as luxury. The moment you walk through the front door, there’s this sense of space that actually lets you breathe, which honestly is rare in El Gouna where everything feels either too touristy or too cramped.
The heated pool is the real star here, and I’m saying this as someone who’s been disappointed by too many “heated” pools that feel more like lukewarm bathtubs. This one’s actually warm enough for those cooler Red Sea evenings when the desert wind picks up. The villa sits in Tawila Island, which – if you know El Gouna at all – is the quieter side away from the main downtown bustle near the marina. You’ll still hear the occasional boat motor from the lagoons, but it’s more of a gentle reminder that you’re on the water than actual noise. The location means you’re about a 10-minute golf cart ride (or walk if you’re feeling ambitious) to the main restaurants and bars, but honestly? With a full kitchen and that pool area, we found ourselves staying put more than expected.
What really impressed me was how the place handles the practical stuff. The air conditioning actually works – all of it, in every room, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong in the Egyptian heat. The kitchen is properly stocked with real cookware, not the usual collection of mismatched pots and dull knives you find in most rentals. There’s even a proper coffee machine, which saved us from having to hunt down decent coffee every morning (though honestly, the instant Nescafe at the local shops isn’t terrible). The bedrooms are spacious enough that you’re not tripping over luggage, and the bathrooms have strong water pressure – again, sounds basic, but it matters when you’re dealing with Red Sea salt and sand every day. The whole place has this lived-in feel without being worn down, if that makes sense. Like someone actually thought about what guests would need rather than just throwing furniture together. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days there – it’s not trying to be some glossy resort, but it nails the fundamentals of being a comfortable base for exploring the Red Sea or just lounging by your private pool with a book.
