You know what struck me first about Labranda Club Makadi? It’s actually got this surprisingly laid-back vibe for a place that sits right on one of the Red Sea’s busiest stretches. I mean, you’re about 34 kilometers south of Hurghada proper on that coastal road to Safaga – honestly, it’s far enough from the main tourist chaos but close enough that you’re not stranded if you want to venture out for some authentic Egyptian street food or hit up the old town.

The thing about Makadi Bay is that it’s sort of become this self-contained resort bubble, and Labranda Club sits right in the sweet spot of that development. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep things feeling relaxed without that overly polished, sterile resort atmosphere you sometimes get. The pools actually have character – there’s this main one that gets pretty lively during the day (families with kids, you know the drill), but if you wander around a bit, you’ll find quieter spots where you can actually hear yourself think. The beach access is solid too, though I’d recommend grabbing your spot early if you’re there during peak season. Those Red Sea winds can pick up in the afternoon, which is actually perfect if you’re into any water sports, but maybe not ideal if you’re hoping to read your book without pages flipping everywhere.

Staff-wise, they really seem to get that balance between being helpful and not hovering – I’ve stayed at places where you can’t walk ten feet without someone asking if you need something. Here, they’re around when you need them but they let you just… exist, you know? The food situation is better than I expected for an all-inclusive setup. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored over a week-long stay, and they do a decent job with both international options and local Egyptian dishes. Honestly, the breakfast spread alone made those early morning starts for diving trips way easier. One small thing – the wifi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, but that might actually be a blessing in disguise depending on what kind of vacation you’re after. Check-in was smooth, parking’s not an issue if you’re renting a car (which I’d recommend for exploring the area), and the rooms are comfortable enough. Nothing fancy, but clean and functional with decent air conditioning – trust me, you’ll want that AC working properly in summer. It’s the kind of place where you can genuinely unwind without feeling like you’re missing out on the real Egypt, especially since Hurghada’s markets and restaurants are just a quick drive up the coast when you’re ready for a change of scenery.

  The stuff were very friendly and helpful… everyone of them.the reception the restaurant the pool the sea the animation team ♥️♥️…. The room was cozy and it was clean every single day….the food was very good especially the bakery at breakfast and the grills at dinner.. family friendly hotel❤️❤️

  What could be improved: When booking didn’t realise that the newly renovated rooms were not clsssed as a standard room ( stayed in these blocks before renovations so didn’t give it a thought)

  – the staff is very friendly, truly at the level of a 5 star hotel (except for the taxi story see below)
  – housekeeping was super clean and made cute figures with the towels/bed drape every day
  – the mattress was perfect
  – price/quality is excellent
  – good sized balcony
  – spacious room
  Other points:
  – Best snorkeling is at the other side of the bay, at Fort Arabasque and Red Sea spa hotels. It's about 1 hour walk from Labranda. Unfortunately there is no soft coral and the hard coral is mostly bleached, but there are still plenty of fish.
  
  – Overall I would score the resort a 7.5/10. The staff is excellent and everything is clean, but the food is just ok and the rooms need a little renovating and are noisy.
  
  What could be improved: These are minor, as overall we had a very good stay:
  – Taxi from the airport from the hotel that was arranged for us by the hotel and cost 35 EUR (+- 20 min ride). We arranged for a cheaper taxi for the trip back to the airport at the end of the holiday, and the hotel would not let that taxi get past security at the entrance of the resort and we had to walk over there.
  – There is noise from the disco until midnight which you will hear in your room. If people are walking around in the hallway and talk to each other at a normal volume, you will hear that too. Count on having a few wake-ups in the very early morning when some tipsy guests are coming back from the bar/disco.
  – Food was plenty, but the quality was not amazing, still good but nothing special. For vegans the choices are unfortunately more limited.
  – Room could do with some small fixes, eg broken tiles in the bathroom, paint splatters…, the door lock was broken when we checked in but was fixed very quickly after reporting it. Everything is very clean though.
  – The only good wifi signal is in the lobby.

  Great location, very nice hotel. Actually you use all the amenities of both hotels – Labranda Club and Labranda Royal (for example, all the restaurants were located in Royal Hotel, which is a minute walk, same joint territory). Good room, clean, comfy beds, nice green territory of the hotel, several big heated pools, bay type of beaches with sand smooth entrance to the sea, amazingly clean water. Food was fine, can feel the economical crisis but still big variety, some dishes were very good! Wide choice of vegetables, fruit, local and international cuisine. Different drinks were available. Funny animation team, a lot of options how to spend your time. In hotel disco for adults in the evening, mini disco and kids club activities for children. Spa and salon on territory, some shops, pharmacy. Great internet but only in the lobby. Recommend, especially for stay with kids.
  
  What could be improved: Would be great if food variety is wider. The restaurants that you are given voucher to change your dinner to are very so so, way better to eat at the main restaurant. Also would be nice to have some more toiletries in the bathroom (not everything needed was available). Some parts of the hotel are under reconstruction, but it is quiet and clean. Not a lot of people – that was an advantage for me. Liked the hotel – recommend!
