Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect driving down the Hurghada-Safaga Road to reach Labranda Royal Makadi – the stretch feels like it goes on forever, especially when you’re eager to finally see the Red Sea. But once you hit that 34-kilometer mark and pull into Makadi Bay, it all makes sense. This place sits right where the desert meets some of the most ridiculously clear water you’ll ever see, and the Labranda Royal Makadi takes full advantage of that prime real estate.

The thing about Makadi Bay that most people don’t realize until they get here is how protected it feels compared to the main Hurghada strip. You’re not dealing with the constant buzz of street vendors or the slightly chaotic energy of the city center – this is more like Egypt’s version of a resort bubble, but in the best possible way. The hotel itself sprawls across the coastline with that classic Red Sea resort architecture, all warm stone and arched walkways that actually provide decent shade during those brutal midday hours. I mean, the pool areas are genuinely impressive – multiple levels cascading down toward the beach, with enough space that you can always find a quiet corner even when the German and Russian tour groups arrive in full force during peak season.

What really got me, though, was the snorkeling situation right off their beach. You know how resort websites always promise amazing marine life, and then you get there and see three sad fish and some bleached coral? Not here. The house reef starts maybe fifty meters out, and honestly, it’s some of the most accessible good snorkeling I’ve found along this whole coastline. The dive center guys – most of them locals who’ve been working these waters for years – will tell you the best times to go out (early morning before the day-trippers arrive from Hurghada, or late afternoon when the light hits the coral just right). The staff throughout the property has that relaxed competence you find at places that have figured out their groove over time. Check-in was smooth, the rooms are spacious enough that you don’t feel cramped, and the air conditioning actually works – which, trust me, matters more than you think when it’s 40 degrees outside. The food leans heavily into international buffet territory, but they do a decent job with local specialties too, especially the fresh fish they bring in from the local boats. Sure, it’s not going to revolutionize your understanding of Egyptian cuisine, but after a day of sun and salt water, it hits the spot perfectly.

  – Pool not heated while should be adapted with Nov weather as it winter time and kids could'nt swim at the pool during the whole trip.
  – Staff at the reception were not friendly and didn't like their attitude specially with the Egyptian guests as when asking to check it early as soon as possible as I have kids ( I had waited for 1:30 to get a room ) and when asked for late check out for two hours extra to cope with bus time they refused and gave us only 1 hour while there was foreign family with us asked to late check out by 6 PM and they accepted!

  I had a wonderful stay at Labranda Royal, I liked the overall service provided by the whole staff and would like to thank Mr Maged for his kind gestures he did and his hospitality. Besides, restaurant provided a wide choice of cuisines which was impressive, in addition to the A la Carte Restaurants. Moreover, housekeeping employees did an excellent job and were always smiling which spreads good vibes
