Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Ladybird Veranda Skyline, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Sahl Hasheesh. I mean, this area’s gotten pretty developed over the past few years, and sometimes that means you get these cookie-cutter hotels that look nice in photos but feel soulless in person. But this place? It actually surprised me.
The thing about Sahl Hasheesh is that it’s far enough from central Hurghada to feel relaxed (you’re looking at maybe 20 minutes by taxi), but you’re not completely isolated either. What I love about the Ladybird’s location is that you get this genuine sense of being away from the tourist chaos without sacrificing convenience. The veranda they named the place after isn’t just marketing fluff – it’s actually where you’ll want to spend your evenings, watching the Red Sea change colors as the sun sets. And honestly, that 9.7 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days. The staff remembers your name, they know how you like your coffee, that sort of thing that you don’t expect from a mid-range hotel.
You know what really got me? The attention to small details that most places skip. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property (I was video calling from the pool area without issues), and the rooms have these little touches – decent lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, proper water pressure in the shower. I stayed in November, which is honestly the sweet spot for this area – warm enough for swimming but not that oppressive summer heat that makes you want to hide indoors all day. The hotel gets busy with European guests during peak season, but even then it doesn’t feel overcrowded because they’ve designed the common areas well. There’s this relaxed morning rhythm where you can grab coffee and pastries early before the breakfast rush, then claim a good spot by the pool or on that famous veranda. The Red Sea is right there, of course – crystal clear water that’s perfect for snorkeling if you’re into that, though I spent most of my time just floating and reading. Parking’s easy if you rent a car, and the check-in was surprisingly smooth for Egypt (no endless paperwork or confusion about reservations). I mean, it’s not luxury by any stretch, but sometimes you find these gems that just get the basics right and add enough personality to make you want to come back. That’s what this place is.
