Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Lamera Hotel – it’s one of those places that actually gets what a 3-star should be, you know? I mean, you’re not getting marble lobbies or turndown service, but honestly, that’s not why you come to Hurghada anyway. The thing is, this place sits right on Sheraton Street, which – if you’ve never been to Hurghada – is basically where everything happens without being completely chaotic. You can walk to the marina area in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the constant honking and street vendors that some of the hotels closer to the old town have to put up with.

What surprised me most was how the staff actually seemed to give a damn. The guy at reception (Ahmed, I think?) remembered I was coming back late from a diving trip and made sure someone would be around to help with my gear. That’s the kind of thing that doesn’t show up in star ratings but makes a huge difference when you’re hauling tanks around at 6 PM. The rooms are… well, they’re clean and the AC works, which honestly puts them ahead of some 4-star places I’ve stayed at along the Red Sea coast. The beds are decent – not amazing, but I slept fine after long days in the sun. And here’s something practical nobody talks about: the bathrooms actually have good water pressure. Trust me, after a day of salt and sand, that matters more than fancy toiletries.

The real thing about Lamera is its location on the strip – you’re close enough to walk to those little local restaurants where the fish is actually fresh (there’s this spot called El Halaka about three blocks down that locals go to), but far enough from the main tourist drag that you don’t have tour buses idling outside your window at 7 AM. The hotel doesn’t have its own beach, but the public beach access is literally across the street, and honestly? The snorkeling right off the shore there is better than some of the “private” beaches at fancier resorts. I saw more fish in twenty minutes than I did on a whole boat trip the day before. The only real downside is that rooms facing the street can get a bit noisy – Egyptian traffic doesn’t really follow a schedule – but ask for a back room and you’ll be fine. That 8.1 rating makes sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you just want a clean, comfortable base for exploring one of the best diving spots in the world.

    Fantastic

What could be improved: Every thing

  • Patrick from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (9/10)

Spacious comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. In a good location for shops, cafés and the marina. Thanks to the friendly staff for a lovely stay.

  • Yevheniia from Ukraine – 17 February 2025 (9/10)

Very friendly staff at the reception and restaurant, very helpful, kind and smiling.

What could be improved: It was very noisy in the room that I couldn’t sleep. Noise from the street woke me up even after sleepless night.

  • Javier from Egypt – 5 February 2025 (9/10)

Very friendly and helpful people with good information of all the activities to do in town.

What could be improved: Very central and convenient for any activity.

  • Aleksandar from Poland – 19 January 2025 (8/10)

Very good value for money, the room was cheap, spacious and clean and staff was nice. The hotel is close to the Marina and in one of the touristy areas.

What could be improved: Breakfast was very simply, yet very, very slow. One morning I walked out after a long wait to get my small breakfast.

  • Mariana from Switzerland – 13 January 2025 (9/10)

I arrived at the hotel, the staff greeted me as if I was meeting friends I hadn't seen for a while. Eman and Fayrouz explained everything about the hotel. I felt respected as a guest and knew I could mention any potential problem which would be solved swiftly. Over the 2 weeks I was there I met the manager Walid and the owner, Mr Mina. The hotel and its guests are in good hands, welcomed and offered great deals with excursions (fabulous at good price), access to beaches, info about well priced restaurants in the area and so on. Ask and you will be heard! I want to thank Gamel also for his help and the night staff who is amazing.
My room was comfortable, good mattress, little balcony, good mirror.
The breakfast is served from 7am to 12 on the top floor, where you can sit on individual balconies, overlooking the skyline of downtown and the radiant sky. The serving is simple and healthy; they manage to add a change daily, there is a hot item included every day, never the same. The friendliness of the service is the best, even if do not speak Arabic.
I was impressed by the collegial teamwork amongst every worker at Lamera, nothing is too difficult to solve for them. Thank you all for great management and respect for who comes through the door!

What could be improved: The bathroom could do with 2 more hooks

  • Krzysztof from Poland – 3 January 2025 (8/10)

Good hotel for travellers and explorers

What could be improved: Potentially noisy rooms, breakfast not worth the money (slow, not very tasty)

  • Henrike from Germany – 1 November 2024 (7/10)

Our stay at Lamera hotel was quite nice. The room and the bathroom were clean. The room was equipped as described on booking.
The breakfast was simple, but nice.
The hotel is located in a rather touristic area.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, it was quite noisy because of the street nearby and we could lock the door to the balcony.
There is a "private" beach (Sakia Beach) which is accessible for everybody. Why it is called "private" is not clear to us, especially because we had to pay for it. At the reception we were told that it costs 150 pounds per person. At the beach, however, we found out (because there were Egyptians paying the fee before us) that it is only 75 pounds. So the price they told us in the hotel was not correct and there was a fee (and not even a discount) for guests of the hotel although on booking there is written that they have a private beach.

  • Boutros from France – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location, comfortable beds, great value

What could be improved: Some minor refurbishments can help

  • Ann from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable room, good breakfast, great value. The staff were very helpful. Thanks to Limona on reception plus Karim and the lady who makes breakfast. Air conditioner worked well and not too noisy. Fridge in room was useful.

What could be improved: A bit noisy with the street at the front, so better with a back room. One of the fridges made a strange beeping noise occasionally.
