You know what surprised me about Lemon & Soul Makadi Garden? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – and honestly, that’s refreshing. Located about 34 kilometers down the Hurghada-Safaga Road, it sits right in that sweet spot where Makadi Bay starts to feel less touristy but you’re still close enough to everything. I mean, you’re looking at maybe 20 minutes to get into central Hurghada if you need that urban buzz, but the hotel itself has this laid-back vibe that makes you want to just… stay put.

The three-star rating might make you think “budget,” but it’s more like “no-nonsense comfortable.” The rooms are clean and actually quite spacious – I was expecting something cramped, but there’s proper space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re far enough from the main strip that you don’t get the late-night party noise, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you to the action in Makadi’s hotel zone if that’s your thing. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, which you don’t always find at this price point. Check-in was smooth, and they actually remembered my name by day two – small thing, but it matters.

Here’s the thing about this part of Makadi Bay – it’s not flashy, but the Red Sea access is identical to what you’d get at the big resorts charging twice as much. The beach situation is solid, and if you’re into snorkeling or diving, you’re literally minutes from some decent coral spots. I noticed a lot of German and Eastern European guests, which usually means good value for money and a more relaxed atmosphere than the party-heavy places. The 7.6 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s nothing seriously wrong either. Perfect if you want a base for exploring the area without breaking the bank, or if you just want to decompress by the sea without too much fuss. The location works especially well if you’re planning day trips – you can easily get to Luxor or hit up some of the better dive sites without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere.

  Omar the taxi driver from the hotel was waiting to transport me. He was on time and as a female solo traveller, I felt safe.
  I loved the trip to the beach on the tuk-tuk, and the. each bar there.
  Food was varied and very nice.

  I was given the same room as one year ago, and things slightly improved, but this old and tired resort has a long way to go to match competitors such as the Wadi Lahmy Resort much further south. Food is a hit and miss, but the Oriental Evening the hotel had organised was splendid – any efforts they make goes quiet a stretch. It seems the cost is due to Makadi being regarded as a posh location but most guests would probably come because of the convenience.
  
  What could be improved: This hotel is consistently falling behind and requires an update in all aspects. Covered parking would have been nice, too. I hope they soon start implementing the Ministry's directives on making Red Sea Resorts green, this hotel will benefit from these regulations; having the water run for up to 10 minutes before it gets warm is not acceptable for any place in the desert.

  The buffet style breakfasts were fantastic with a choice of just about anything you can think of and lots of vegetarian options too. We ate lunch down at the beach most days from the little snack van and the pizzas were above and beyond what you'd expect. Dinner however was a little less consistent, especially for veggies like myself. The buffet on the Oriental night was absolutely fantastic and we would all have been happy to eat that every day, but we appreciate that it may not have been everyone's choice. The rooms were lovely and freshly decorated with comfortable beds, clean towels daily and plenty of storage. The grounds were full of beautiful bushes and plants which were being attended to constantly, in fact the whole place was very well cared for. Lemon and Soul is by far and away the best all inclusive hotel we've stayed in for the reason that it didn't have the sometimes sterile impersonal feel to it that others can do. It felt more like a guest house which is more the type of accommodation we would go for out of choice.
  
  What could be improved: There really wasn't much to complain about at all except a loo brush in the bathroom would have been handy, if we were to nit pick.

  Great hotel, have stayed before, sad to see it so empty. Hotel staff were amazing, reception, restaurant, bar, cleaners, pool staff, really great.
  Food was good, room was good, Gala dinner on New Years eve was done really well, the fact it was 3 hotels together, well done to all the staff ❤
  
  What could be improved: All the extra costs, mini bar, orange juice, roof top bar, should be all included

  The staff was super helpful, whenever we needed something we got the requested help at that moment. They are fluent in English and German.
  The beach is 6 minutes bus ride away which is really close to many amazing coral reefs.
  All together we were not expecting this high quality service for this price and we were happily surprised
  
  What could be improved: The majority of the rooms are having door between them without any soundproofing at all. This means that you can easily hear what they are talking in the next room. However when we asked for a different room they were happy to give us a new one right away, but again with a door between two rooms, even though we specialty asked to have a room without it
