You know how sometimes you book a place based on the name and just hope for the best? Well, Lima Modern actually lives up to what it promises – though I’ll be honest, the name had me confused at first since we’re talking about Hurghada, not Peru. But whatever, the important stuff is what you see when you walk in, and this place genuinely surprised me.

The sea view is legit – not one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations. From most rooms you’re looking straight out at the Red Sea, and honestly, that’s worth the price of admission right there. The Wi-Fi thing isn’t just marketing speak either; I was video calling family back home without any of that choppy, pixelated nonsense you usually get at beach hotels. Location-wise, you’re on Sheraton Road which – if you know Hurghada at all – puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to decent restaurants and shops, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strip. There’s actually a pretty good local Egyptian place about two blocks down that the hotel staff pointed me toward, and I mean, when locals are eating there too, you know it’s the real deal.

What really struck me about Lima Modern is how they’ve managed to keep things, well, modern without feeling sterile. The lobby has this clean, minimalist thing going on, but there are these little touches – local artwork, comfortable seating that actually looks like people use it – that make it feel welcoming rather than cold. The rooms are solid too; nothing fancy, but the AC works (crucial in Hurghada), the shower has decent pressure, and everything feels recently updated. I stayed there during what I later learned was peak season, and while the hotel was clearly full, it never felt overcrowded or noisy. The soundproofing is better than you’d expect from a 3-star place, which matters when you’re trying to sleep off a day of diving or beach lounging.

Here’s the thing though – and this is where that 9 rating makes sense – it’s the staff that really makes this place work. Check-in was smooth, they actually seemed to care about helping with local recommendations, and when I had a minor issue with my room key, it was sorted in like five minutes. No runaround, no attitude. The housekeeping is thorough too; I left my room looking like a hurricane hit it one day, and came back to find everything pristine. Small details, but they add up. The breakfast spread is pretty standard hotel fare, but fresh and decent quality – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but nothing to complain about either. If you’re looking for a place in Hurghada that delivers on the basics without any unpleasant surprises, Lima Modern is honestly a solid choice. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and in a city where you can easily get burned by places that promise the world and deliver disappointment, that kind of straightforward reliability is actually pretty refreshing.
