Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Lima Modern Sheraton, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, and you know how hotel names can be misleading. But this place actually delivers on the “modern” part. It sits right on El-Bahr street in Hurghada, which puts you close enough to the action without being right in the thick of the tourist chaos that can get pretty overwhelming during peak season.

The lobby hits you with that clean, contemporary vibe – lots of white surfaces and geometric patterns that somehow don’t feel cold or sterile. What I really appreciated was how the staff handled check-in; they’re efficient but not rushed, and the Wi-Fi they advertise? It actually works throughout the property, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy in 2024 but you’d be surprised how many places still struggle with this basic necessity. The rooms lean heavily into the modern aesthetic with crisp linens and decent-sized bathrooms, though I’ll be honest – the shower pressure could be better. Nothing deal-breaking, but worth mentioning if you’re one of those people who needs a proper rinse after a day in the Red Sea sun.

Here’s what really sets this place apart though – the location gives you options. You’re about a ten-minute walk from some of the better local restaurants that tourists often miss because they’re not right on the main strip, and the hotel’s position means you catch some nice breezes off the water in the evenings. The pool area gets busy during the day (especially when the Russian and German tour groups are in town), but if you hit it early morning or after dinner, you’ll have it mostly to yourself. I mean, the 8.3 rating makes sense when you factor in that it delivers solid four-star comfort without the pretension of some of the bigger resort chains. The breakfast spread is actually quite good – they do this Egyptian-style omelet that’s way better than the usual hotel fare, and there’s always fresh fruit that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for days. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind, but for the price point in Hurghada, you’re getting reliable comfort with some genuine personality thrown in.

  -Strong wifi, suitable for online work (in Marilyn studio with balcony)
  – Good location (close to Gobus, beaches, marinas, a lot of nice restaurants nearby)
  – Well-equipped and well-designed
  – Not very noisy, mostly quiet at nights (located on the back street)

  What could be improved: -It could be cleaner, I had to clean myself some areas before usage
  -Some miscommunication issues that have been resolved, but still, the landlady's husband was rude and disrespectful, knocking and shouting at my door after 11 pm (i'm a solo lady traveler) and calling me a fuc*ing scared tourist dozens of times. He didn't mean anything bad, just was very emotional and unprofessional.
  And just FYI, there are no free public beaches in Hurghada, and I didn't like the paid ones nearby. One of the best is Mahmya which is quite expensive and small. If you are going for a beach vacation, maybe it's better to consider a hotel which includes a nice beach (though not all hotel beaches are good, make sure to check the reviews)

  Irina was very responsive and answered all questions right away. The apt was on a back street which was better than being on the main street. Washing machine was a plus. Overall a great value. We actually stayed next door at Marylin apartment, but Lima apartment looked nicer, just didn't have a balcony.

  A fantastic experience. The location was strategic, placing us within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to visit, including numerous restaurants and beautiful beaches.

  Zuerst das Gute: Irina ist eine nette Vermieterin. Das war es dann auch; die positiven Kommentare hier können wir nicht ansatzweise nachvollziehen. Das Apartment liegt in einem Haus, in dem Flurlicht und Aufzug überwiegend nicht funktionieren, es stinkt nach Katzenurin und nachts ist wegen des Lärms im Haus von anderen Mietern und jaulenden Katzen an Schlaf nicht zu denken. Das Mobiliar des Apartments dürfte einige Jahrzehnte alt sein und ist wohl noch nie gereinigt worden. Gleiches gilt für Pfannen, Fußböden, Toilette, Bad, selbst der Kühlschrank ist dreckig von innen und schimmelt – eine wirklich, sorry, Dreckbude. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte natürlich nicht, das elektrische Kabelwirrwarr ist lebensgefährlich. Die Dusche ist eigentlich unbenutzbar, zudem ist der Duschkopf mit Klebeband „repariert“ – das Wasser spritzt überall heraus. Sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt, abgesehen davon, dass die Beschreibung der Zimmer nicht stimmt: es gibt dort nicht 1 Wohn- und 1 Schlafzimmer, es gibt lediglich einen großen Raum, das „Schlafsofa“ ist komplett Schrott, zum Schlafen völlig ungeeignet.
  Ich würde mich schämen, solch ein Apartment anderen Menschen anzubieten.
  Wir haben uns irgendwann ein anderes Hotel gesucht.
