You know what struck me first about Lotus Bay Resort? It’s not actually in Hurghada proper – it’s tucked away in Soma Bay, which honestly works in its favor. The drive from Hurghada airport takes about 45 minutes, and yeah, you’ll probably need to grab a taxi or arrange a transfer, but once you’re there, you get why they picked this spot. The coastline here is way less chaotic than the main Hurghada strip, and the Red Sea views are pretty spectacular without all the jet ski noise you get closer to town.

The resort itself feels solidly four-star – not trying to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciate. The lobby’s got that typical Egyptian resort vibe with lots of marble and warm colors, but it doesn’t feel overdone. Check-in was smooth when I was there, though I’d imagine things get a bit hectic during peak European winter months when everyone’s escaping the cold. The rooms are decent sized with those floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open (thank god), and most face either the sea or the pool area. The AC works well – crucial in this heat – and the beds are comfortable enough, though the pillows could use an upgrade if I’m being picky.

What really makes this place work is the diving and snorkeling situation. Soma Bay sits right on some of the better reef areas along this stretch of coast, and the resort’s dive center seems to know what they’re doing. I mean, you’re looking at maybe a 10-minute boat ride to some really decent coral formations, which beats the hour-long trips you sometimes need from other spots. The beach itself is nice – not the softest sand you’ll ever feel, but the water entry is easy and the reef is close enough for decent snorkeling right off the shore. Pool area gets busy mid-morning but there’s usually space if you’re not too picky about location. Food’s typical resort fare – the breakfast spread is solid with good coffee (finally!), and dinner has enough variety to keep you happy for a week-long stay. Service feels genuinely friendly rather than forced, which you don’t always get at this price point. The 7.6 rating seems about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises, especially if you’re here for the water activities and want a reliable base that won’t break the bank.

  The staff were all exceptional. They always went out of their ways to make sure we were happy and got everything we needed.

  What could be improved: I found the evening entertainment was poor . For being a fantastic place and the size of the place , I was expecting the evening entertainment to be much ,much better. My only fault of the place. During the day was great getting into different activities by the entertainment staff couldn't fault that.
