So I ended up at this little place in El Gouna after my original hotel booking fell through – honestly, one of those happy accidents that makes you believe in travel karma. The Lovely 1 Bedroom with private heated Jacuzzi is tucked away on El Gouna 1 Road, and while the name sounds a bit generic (I mean, they really went literal with that one), the actual experience is anything but ordinary.

What struck me first was how quiet it gets here once you’re inside – El Gouna can be surprisingly bustling during peak season, especially with all the kitesurfing crowds rolling through, but this spot feels like its own little bubble. The jacuzzi is the real star, obviously, and it’s actually heated properly, which… well, you’d be surprised how many places skimp on that detail. I spent way too many evenings just soaking there, watching the desert sky do its thing with all those ridiculous stars you never see back home. The bedroom itself is pretty straightforward – clean, comfortable bed, decent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. Nothing fancy, but honestly, when you’re spending half your time outside exploring the Red Sea or wandering around the lagoons, you just need a solid base.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the marina area where all the restaurants and bars cluster together – close enough to stumble back after dinner, far enough to avoid the late-night party noise that sometimes drifts over from Abu Tig Marina. The whole El Gouna setup is pretty unique if you haven’t been before; it’s like someone decided to build a mini Venice in the Egyptian desert, complete with canals and bridges. Sounds weird on paper, works surprisingly well in reality. You’ll want to grab one of those little tuk-tuks (they call them “tuk-tuks” here too) for getting around during the day when it’s blazing hot, but evenings are perfect for walking. Fair warning though – this isn’t a luxury resort situation, so don’t expect daily housekeeping or a concierge who knows your coffee order. It’s more like having your own little apartment for a while, which I actually preferred. The kitchen setup is basic but functional if you want to grab supplies from the local market, and there’s something really satisfying about making your morning coffee and taking it straight to that jacuzzi. Just don’t expect the water pressure to be amazing – it’s Egypt, after all, and some things just take a bit longer here. But honestly? That’s part of the charm.
