Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places along the Red Sea coast, but this apartment in SomaBay honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes a place just gets everything right without trying too hard? That’s exactly what happened here.

The moment you walk into this one-bedroom setup on the third floor of Building 3C, you’re hit with this massive wall of windows facing the sea. I’m talking floor-to-ceiling views that make you stop mid-conversation and just stare. The apartment itself feels way more spacious than you’d expect – the living area flows naturally into the kitchen (which, by the way, actually has everything you need, not just a mini-fridge and sad hotplate like some places). What really got me was the attention to small details… decent water pressure in the shower, blackout curtains that actually block light, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on your roof all night.

Being right on the Hurghada-Safaga Desert Road means you’re perfectly positioned between the airport chaos and the quieter Safaga area, which honestly works out great. The Somabreeze complex itself is well-maintained without being stuffy – you’ll see families from Cairo mixing with European couples, and there’s this relaxed vibe that some of the bigger resort chains just can’t pull off. The sea access is what really sells it though. You’re not fighting crowds for a decent spot on the beach, and the water here has that incredible clarity that makes snorkeling feel almost mandatory. I spent way too many mornings just sitting on the balcony with coffee, watching the dive boats head out toward the reefs.

Here’s the thing that surprised me most – despite being a 3-star rating, this place operates more like a high-end vacation rental. The host clearly knows what travelers actually want (reliable wifi, proper kitchen equipment, extra towels) versus what hotels think we want. Check-in was smooth, parking’s straightforward, and when I had a question about local dive shops, I got genuinely helpful recommendations, not just a brochure shoved at me. The building stays pretty quiet even during peak season, probably because most guests are here to explore the underwater world during the day and crash early. That 9.9 rating isn’t an accident – it’s what happens when someone actually thinks through the guest experience instead of just throwing fancy amenities at a problem.

  Great experience owner Mahmoud was really helpful and very quick to contact us following any questions. The apartment is excellent has all modern kitchen appliances and smoothie maker etc. Location was perfect for us as we were diving at Orca dive club about a 15 min walk. There is a great supermarket/deli at the Marina where they give about a 30% discount on food and drink ( no alcohol for sale which is usual in Egypt), fresh fruit and lovely cheese etc We ended up self catering and spent about £45 for the week. There is a golf shuttle bus that will take you to the marina from Breakers and back.

  Feiner Balkon, gemütliches Bett, sehr gute kochmöglichkeit, unkomplizierter und hilfreicher Gastgeber. Sehr schönes Korallenriff in ca 15 Gehminuten. Schnorchel gratis auszuborgen. Sehr ruhig zum schlafen.
