Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Makadi Heights, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Hurghada. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots are exactly where you want to end up. This place sits in a quieter part of town, away from the main tourist strip where all the pushy vendors hang out, and that’s actually its biggest selling point.

The thing about Makadi Heights is that it feels like it’s run by people who actually care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they figure out your reservation – and the staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing. The rooms are clean and functional, nothing fancy but everything works (which, honestly, is more than I can say for some of the flashier places I’ve stayed in Egypt). The AC actually keeps up with the Hurghada heat, the water pressure is decent, and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. You’d be surprised how rare that combination is.

What really won me over was the location. You’re close enough to the Red Sea that you can walk to some of the local dive shops – the ones the locals actually use, not just the tourist traps. There’s this little spot about ten minutes away where you can grab fresh seafood that hasn’t been sitting around all day, and the hotel staff will actually point you toward places like that instead of just the expensive resort restaurants. The area gets pretty quiet at night, which means you can actually sleep without earplugs (trust me on this – some parts of Hurghada never really wind down). During the day, you’re still within easy reach of all the diving and snorkeling spots that make this part of Egypt worth visiting, but you’re not paying resort prices for the privilege. I mean, for what you get versus what you pay, it’s honestly hard to complain. The breakfast is simple but fresh, the pool area is small but never crowded, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to impress you with marble everything and gold fixtures that don’t actually make your stay any better.

  The view from the apartment was beautiful, and the overall atmosphere was very peaceful and quiet. I also appreciated how safe the area felt—there were security guards stationed throughout the property, which was reassuring
