Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Makadi Heights” on the booking site, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the star rating system just doesn’t capture what actually matters. This complex sits right in the heart of Makadi Bay, and I mean properly positioned – you’re about a 15-minute walk from the main strip where all the resort hotels cluster together, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour bus chaos at 7 AM.

The apartment itself (and yeah, it’s more like a proper apartment than a hotel room) surprised me. The balcony faces inland rather than the sea, which honestly worked out fine because you get these gorgeous sunset views over the desert hills that most people miss entirely. The kitchen’s actually functional – I’m talking full-sized fridge, decent stovetop, all the basics you need if you want to grab some fresh fish from the local market instead of eating resort food every night. Speaking of which, there’s this little supermarket about 200 meters down the road where the locals shop, and the guy there speaks perfect English and will tell you exactly how to cook whatever you buy. The air conditioning works properly (crucial in Hurghada summers, trust me), and the wifi was solid enough for video calls back home, though it did get a bit spotty during peak evening hours when everyone’s online.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail – the kind of stuff that makes you think someone actually cares about your stay. The towels get changed regularly without you having to hunt down housekeeping, there’s proper hot water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in this area), and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not those rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in vacation rentals. The pool area’s small but never felt crowded, probably because most guests seem to head to the beach during the day. Actually, that’s another thing – the beach access is straightforward, just a short walk through the resort area, and you hit this lovely stretch of Red Sea coastline that’s perfect for snorkeling. I saw more colorful fish in one afternoon than I expected to see in a week. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator can be a bit slow during busy periods, but honestly, it’s Egypt – you learn to embrace the relaxed pace of things. For the price point and that stellar 9.6 rating (which now makes complete sense), Makadi Heights delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-maintained base for exploring one of the Red Sea’s best diving and beach areas.

  Our stay in Egypt was absolutely fantastic! The host was the best we've had in 11 years of holidaying there—so welcoming and helpful. The apartment was perfectly equipped, comfortable, and in an ideal location for exploring Makadi Heights and beyond. We had an amazing family holiday, packed with fun and new friends. The owner even helped us attend an awesome music festival with top-notch bands. Highly recommend this place!

  My host Mr Jake is an absolute diamond!,
  He was sufficiently Available whenever any queries arose, and provided all relevant information prior to stay and what further activities and excursions were offered and available to tourists in and around hurgarda.
  
  What could be improved: Besides great compliments towards Mr Jake as a host and the fully equipped and comfortable accommodation he offers,
  
  The complex itself has no signs directing to location of facilities/amenities available,
  And can be somewhat confusing to find, however security/staff are friendly and approachable to assist.

  I had a fantastic stay at the chalet in Makadi Heights, thanks to the owner's friendliness, excellent value for money, impeccable cleanliness, and top-notch amenities. The prime location and seamless booking and check-in process made it a perfect vacation spot. Highly recommended!

  The place is very clean and cozy the host was great, it had everything we needed

  What could be improved: I had a bit of a problem with the location as it’s in the last floor and by the gates of the compound but the apartment itself was very nice also it’s more of a residential compound not a vacation place but there are some cafes and restaurants.
  Also the beach is not easily accessible you have to get by bus and pay fees

  Jake is the owner he is really helpful and he provided us with all an excellent recommendations for the area surroundings . The appartment is super clean & nice and it’s always sunny , it has two bedrooms it’s exactly like the pictures and the kitchen was fully equipped. I highly recommend to stay in this property it’s simply perfect. . The compound is really Cousy and quite and you can access the beach in la branda hotel it’s 6 mins driving .

  It was very fun to rent a small bike from the safari tour operator nearby. the whole compound is beautifully designed like in a movie set. we were impressed by the room heights and the brick ceiling that gives a natural feeling to live in. super sympathetic host
