Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Makadi Palace? It’s actually tucked away in this really peaceful stretch of Makadi Bay, maybe twenty minutes south of all the Hurghada chaos – which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re trying to unwind. The whole “couples and families only” thing isn’t just marketing speak either; they really do keep it mellow here, no spring break vibes or loud bachelor parties disrupting your morning coffee.
The property itself sprawls along this gorgeous stretch of Red Sea coastline, and I mean, the coral reefs are practically at your doorstep. You can literally walk into the water and start snorkeling without needing a boat trip – something that’s getting rarer and rarer along this coast. The rooms are solid (I stayed in one of the sea-view ones, totally worth the upgrade), though honestly the bathrooms could use a refresh. Nothing terrible, just… well, you can tell it’s a few years old in spots. But the beds are comfortable, the AC works like a dream – crucial in Egyptian summers – and you get that gentle sound of waves that actually helps you sleep instead of keeping you up.
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed the whole family-friendly thing without making it feel like a daycare center. The kids’ areas are well-designed and separate enough that couples can find their quiet spots, especially around the adults-only pool area which gets beautiful afternoon light. The staff genuinely seems to care too – our room attendant, Ahmed, remembered we liked extra towels by day two, and the restaurant folks actually adjusted spice levels when we mentioned we weren’t used to local heat levels. Food’s pretty good for hotel standards, though I’d definitely recommend venturing out to some of the local seafood spots along Safaga Road at least once. There’s this little place about five minutes away where the fish is so fresh it was probably swimming that morning.
The snorkeling really is exceptional here – you’ve got healthy coral formations just off the beach, and I saw more colorful fish in three days than I did during an entire week in Sharm a few years back. Beach service is attentive without being pushy, and they’ve got these great shaded areas set up with comfortable loungers. Just heads up though – it gets pretty busy around the pool and beach areas between 10 AM and 2 PM when families are out in full force. Early morning or late afternoon are definitely the sweet spots for a more peaceful experience. The evening entertainment is… well, it’s hotel entertainment, you know? Nothing groundbreaking, but the Egyptian folklore night was actually quite well done and the kids seemed to love it. Overall, it’s one of those places where you can genuinely relax without constantly managing logistics, which at a 7.9 rating feels about right – really good, just not quite spectacular.

We were really looking forward to our stay at the Makadi Palace Hotel. The hotel itself is quite beautiful, with a lovely location, a charming layout, and well-furnished rooms. The overall atmosphere was promising, and we arrived with great anticipation. The staff were generally friendly, although we were frequently asked for tips—which we didn’t mind and happily gave.
What could be improved: However, one terrible experience at the very end of our stay completely ruined our impression of the hotel.
We had been told that we could exchange our allocated gym access for a game of tennis, provided that a staff member confirmed this. When we spoke to a gym employee, he assured us that it was fine and that he would take care of it. A few days later, when we returned to the gym and explained the situation to another staff member, he simply waved his hands and kept repeating, “It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay—just sign here.” Although we spoke in English, it was clear he didn’t really listen to us. Trusting his words, we signed the paper, assuming everything was in order.
This turned out to be a huge mistake.
On the day of our departure, we were suddenly asked at reception to pay the full price for the tennis sessions. We refused, explaining that we had been assured we could exchange the gym vouchers for tennis. The receptionist, however, insisted that we had to pay. We felt completely deceived and unfairly treated, as this was clearly a mistake on the hotel’s side.
The situation escalated when the receptionist made several loud phone calls to different managers. The discussions were extremely uncomfortable to witness—managers were shouting in Arabic, clearly agitated, insisting that the fee could not be waived or refunded. We were essentially denied to check us out. More so we were forced to pay the amount, or risk missing our flight because they refused to let us leave.
This was an outrageous and unacceptable way to treat guests. The receptionist even told us that we could resolve this issue afterward. Therefore, we demand that Makadi Palace contacts us to sort this out. We expect a response and a fair resolution.Matijević from Germany – 13 February 2025 (9/10)
Mostafa Masry was great! He works at the reception and he accommodated every need we had. Also, it was my mom’s birthday and he arranged a cake for the room free of charge. Other staff is also great and so friendly.
What could be improved: It could be more cleaner and pay more attention to details.Ahmed from Egypt – 17 December 2024 (8/10)

The staff is literally cheerful and amazing! Especially Mr Tarek at the front desk, he's such an amazing,, talented and a very experienced person who knows how to lead his team in a wonderful decent way.
What could be improved: The beach, as it was a rocks beach
that we couldn't really swim and the Italian restaurant as the menu was really poor and the food quality as well.
